Thousands protest against Bush visit to Brazil
BRASILIA, Brazil, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Several thousand demonstrators on Wednesday marched through Brazil's capital Brasilia in a protest against U.S. President George W. Bush and his planned visit to the Latin American country on Nov. 6.
Bush is scheduled to meet President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in Brasilia on Nov. 6 after attending the Summit of the Americas in Mar del Plata, Argentina, between Nov. 3 and 5. From Brasilia he is to travel to Panama.
Personaly I have never been one Bush-hater, but as a biology student I must recognize his environment policies are disastrous. Let's hope he goes back to the States not including Brazil on a new Axis of Evil, eh.

I'm not either, except very occasionally. ;)
And, if you don't mind, I'd like to add that, as I perceive things, he is under what the US, being a great country, could and should present to the world.

I wish everybody would just ignore the guy, but they probably will even get Pelé to meet him like they did with Clinton years ago...

I think that the US, being as important as it is to the world (and having so many outstanding men and women who through generations have built a great nation), could have a different and better kind of foreign policy right now (represented and conducted by the current president).

If anything, often times it looks lke the USA is too involved in foreign affairs when right now there are loads of domestic issues that need to be tended to and focused on... IMO the Bush administration has been horrible... excuses from that party have become downright predictable and laughable in their corruption (gas spikes every September, temporary decrease in the winter.... where they more than make up for it with spiking heating prices... repeat for 3 more years at least) let alone the several other problems effecting the administration (outing a CIA agent... or the Supreme Court fiasco last week... take your pick!) and then, oh yes, the War in Iraq. Bush has an atrocious approval rating, but so be it... not like he really cares what people think of him now; he's more than made that abundandtly clear.
So I dunno. I'm not all that thrilled about him in Brasil. Then again, I'm not all that thrilled about him in the USA either.

the way Lula talk about the USA on his visit to Portugal and the Cimeira of the 22 countries in Spain, his not going to be much of a welcome
also all the 20 Spain nations along with Portugal and Brasil voted for the USA to lift the embargo in Cuba.
keep me inform, for the first time will be a little polemica in Brasil with a visit of the USA president

You did not make that clear, in fact it almost sounded like the opposite.
Under does not always mean "below the standard". In your post it seemed like under meant "sob" in the context of "sob o âmbito" or something similar.

But again... this ignores the reality that George Bush simply does not care if they are happy or unhappy with him... if he doesn't care about his domestic approval ratings, no way in the world he cares about what someone from another country thinks of him. He is about his agenda, and fulfillling it. Simple as that.

they can take Lula with him tooYeah. Kidnap Bush and the US will do what our military government did in the 60s - burn down the slums. Literally. Only the US won't realize they'll be getting themselves into a new Vietnam. :D
All joking aside, this is likely to be one of the most ineffective visits Bush will make during his two terms.
What is Brazil getting out of it? What kind of stuff will Lula try to push the US on? Does Lula have any international leverage? Natioanlly right now he probably doesn't.

It is actually fascinating right now... the Brazilian economy. There's been such a boom in foreign investment in the past few months... that the Brazilian Reais has been actually been getting stronger compared to the American dollar. Some people are wondering if it is good to start buying USD again because they're cheaper than they've been in ages. And what's really surprising is that even with the political 'crisis' with corruption, that hasn't stunted the economic growth. At least not yet.
