Used is fine, but with games like Splinter Cell coming out, I can't deal not having one. Where should I look?

at a store that sells them
try a gamestop or babbage's or funcoland type place if you want a used one.
or just suck it up and by a new one because it comes with two free games now anyway.

You won't find a new one sold cheaper at one store than another. (It's called retail price maintance.)

The best deal you can get for a new one is free shipping, no tax, and a coupon from an on-line place.

Two good places to look for coupons are gamepricezone.com and allxbox.com

Used ones can be found on ebay and at various places that sell used games.

I have a Ps2 which I love but I have thought about getting an Xbox as well but am hesitant because I'm not sure if it will exist come 2 years from now. Can anyone who owns both give me some insight on how they like owning 2 systems? Is it worth getting the second one?

right.

except the xbox has far better graphics, better sound, a hard drive, a superior DVD player and the ability to burn your own music into the hard drive.

other than that the PS2 is technicly superior.

well thier games are great for both systems.

ps2 has GTA and Pro Evolution soccer.

Xbox has MLS extra time '02 and will now be the exclusive system for Metal Gear.

As far as quality games go, the xbox has no shortage.

one time I was all set to sell my Xbox to Bailey because I was going to buy a car and needed the cash. So Bailey was in my area ready to buy it when my friend told me he borrowed the Xbox and spilt soda on it. Of course the xbox did not play games after that and the sale did not take place.

then to add insult to injury, Bailey's girlfriend went to Europe and cheated on him.

So anyway, Chris, when you finally get the xbox, make sure and get MLS extra time 2002, because it's only $29 now.

here is my list of favorite games:

PS2:

MLS extra time 2001, MLS gamenight, ISS '98, ISS Pro Evolution, Wipeout Fusion, The Getaway, Superman: Shadow of Apocolypse, Metal Gear Solid 2, F1 2003, Fifa 2003, Grand Theft Auto 3, Namco Museam (with pac man), Sega Virtua Tennis

Gamecube:

Resident Evil Zero, Godzilla, MLS extra time 2002, Fifa 2003, Eternal Darkness

Xbox:

Mls extratime 2003, Spider-man, Superman:man of steel (thought it was a huge disappointment), Splintercell, Jet Set Radio Future, Namco Museum, Metal Gear, Dead to Rights, Fifa 2003....plus the new championship manageris coming but in the US we will need a mod chip to play it.

Splintercell sure is intense.

Who buys things from legit stores now, anyway?

Yes, I would've had the wonderful used Cikoswki X-box, but he made up some fable about it's brokeness as I'm minutes from his home..

But really, anyplace to get a good used one? I'd prefer to get one off you guys, so when I see you I can wring your neck if it's a lemon.

The Dreamcast was cool as hell too, but it didn't make it a good investment.

Anyway, the Playstation is a very dangerous weapon:

it also crashes, doesnt come out with enough original games, not to mention the crack-addict game controller, and is currently dieing like Dreamcast did. When will you people learn that you can't get between Sony and Nintendo.

it's the game play that matters. why do some people seeking for graphics over game play? go back to the past and see what happened.

gameplay ----- graphics
PS ----- vs - dreamcast
PS ----- vs - Nintendo 64
gameboy---vs- all other portable game devices
sega saturn-vs--PS (before square and some other major companies joined)
Nintendo -- vs- PC engine (by NEC if you don't know)
Super Nintendo vs Neo Geo
Nintendo --- vs Sega Mega Drive (I don't know how it was called in the US)

for graphics, it can just improve over the time. Of course there is a degree in quality of graphics that satisfies the majority of players. but i think all of ps2, xbox and gamecube meet the requirement. also sony is already planning to release ps3 on 2005 and other competitors will catch up sony soon. but if they keep producing crappy games, consumers will leave eventually (look how sony was close to that before bio hazard and some big titles were released).

I've an XBox since December 2001 (got it for Christmas). I play with it a lot. It has NEVER crashed.

doesnt come out with enough original gamesI have the following "original" (ie XBox only) games:

Halo, Dead or Alive 3, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Project Gotham Racing, NFL Fever 2002, NFL Fever 2003, Jet Set Radio Future, MechAssault, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, Wreckless, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

I also have these games which are not XBox only:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Max Payne, Dead To Rights, SSX Tricky, Spider-Man, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, F1 2001, Sega GT 2002, ESPN MLS ExtraTime 2002, FIFA World Cup 2002, FIFA Soccer 2003

Not to mention XBox Live! which blows away anything else out there for online gaming. There is NO lag whatsoever. When I go online and play MechAssault, it's as if I'm playing against people in my own living room.

not to mention the crack-addict game controller

The only crack-addict around here is you. I think the controller is one of the best I've ever used, on console or PC games.

and is currently dieing like Dreamcast did.

Really? I've seen NOTHING backing up this assertion. Got any links?

When will you people learn that you can't get between Sony and Nintendo.
And when you the PS2 fanboyz learn that the XBox is creating quite a niche for itself, and trying to stop Microsoft when it decides to put resources behind an idea is useless?

Amen Mike....There are 4 of us friends that have been playing video games together for years, whether it be nintendo, SNES, PS1, N64, or even 3-DO. 3 of us have XBOXs now and 1 has PS2. He has been kicking himself for months that he did not go with an XBOX...And then two weeks ago he saw that the rest of us went and got xbox live (we live in Boston, Syracuse, Rochester, and Long Island), he is finally going to get rid of the PS2 and join us.

It doesn't ever crash, the controller is great (and if you dont like it get a S-controller), and the game selection is fine (I cant wait for Fable).

What's your XBox Live! Gamertag? Mine is just my last name, Lastort. BTW, have you ever seen the forums on http://www.teamxbox.com ? They're pretty good.

I've got three Live! games so far - MechAssault, Ghost Recon and NFL Fever 2k3. The only one I've played much at all on Live! is MechAssault. It is in-freaking-credible. I'd like to play Ghost Recon and NFL Fever, but I have so much fun with MechAssault I never get time for the other two.

I'm just plain old 'Keevo' online. My brother is 'Scud77', and my friend Brad is 'Das Buck'.

Scud and I only have Ghost Recon right now. Buck has NFL 2K3. I rented that one to play him, and it was pretty fun. I'm looking forward to Outlaw volleyball, and the new tennis game that is coming eventually. I'm still a bit of a beginner at Recon.

Maybe this weekend or sometime I'll rent NFL Fever or MechAssault and we can give it a try.

I'll have to check out that site you posted. I've been reading the message boards over on http://forums.xbox.com/ occosionally.
