Who on DC United's roster would you consider is trade bait?

Rimando
Prideaux
Kovalenko
Olsen
Quaranta
Eskandarian
Adu
That's my short list. The first two are obvious, the rest are based on salary or what we could get in return.

I don't think anyone is untouchable - it just depends what the team is going to try to do next year. At least, I hope the team learned its lesson about not trading / releasing certain players who aren't producing enough bang for the buck.

You mean who has trade value?
Adu, Quaranta, Gros, Boswell, Gomez, Carroll, Namoff, Simms, Walker, Erpen
Dema and Olsen have some trade value but their salaries have a negative impact. Rimando has little trade value as most teams have keepers that they are happy with and there are extra keepers besides Nicky out there that are competent also.

There's two guys on your list that I think have a decent amount of trade value.
And something to keep in mind is that in order to pull off a trade you need the other team to want your guy.
Walker and Prideaux.
Walker has shown good value this year. I stated it in another thread, but his dollars per point has got to be pretty good. A team can take a chance on him becuase he cost's relatively little. He may also be used as an add on to 'sweeten a deal'. Say, Dema and Walker to Dallas for Rhine. (I'm totally making that up, but you get the idea).
Prideaux is another ideal candidate. I know some don't like him. But the fact is that he's a decent MLS calibre defender. He's smart, maybe not the most skilled, but he has a good head and a decent read of the game. And he also doesn't cost a whole lot.
Those are two guys that you can move with relative ease. Now to move a guy like Dema is going to take some wheeling and dealing. Teams are not going to want his high price tag. But I'd still like to see him go to Dallas, just because I want to see their fans have little nuclear explosions. :D

Alphabetical order from the current roster (http://dcunited.mlsnet.com/MLS/players/roster.jsp?club=dcu):
Adu, Kovalenko, Kuffour, Namoff, Prideaux, Quaranta, Rimando, Stokes, Walker, Wilson
I didn't bother to list any of the reservists (with the exception of Nana) because their trade value wouldn't be worth much.

I went with:
Rimando
Prideaux
Kovalenko
Olsen
Quaranta
Adu
I added Walker and Carroll because I think they have value and can be replaced without much diffculty.
I don't think you would be able to trade Eski until he shows he is healthy again.

Voted for Quaranta, Walker, and Carroll as having the most trade value.
All are solid to very good contributors, and not a huge cap figure. They're also all American (so no TI/SI business) and young.
What Skip said about Dema, Olsen, and Rimando is why I didn't vote for them.
Prideaux is solid, but not a huge upgrade for most teams. I could see RSL interested in him, potentially.

Provided he doesn't get his head on straight and realize that the coach is the boss, I want Adu gone.

I would try to trade Moreno or Gomez before Quaranta and Adu.

Q(A sign and trade type thing)
Rimando-I hate to say it, but he seems to be the choice to be out of a United uniform next year. I think a lot of non dc fans like him, because he's an excitinig GK to watch, and his #'s are good...but it's easy to blame him for mistakes because (1) he's the GK, and that's like being a QB or a Pitcher, when you lose, it's 90% of the time your fault, and (2) He does some stupid things some times.
If we decide to keep Q, I think we trade Adu. I hope not though. Carroll isn't going any where, I think he's more then earned his starting spot for United, and, IMO, is our 2nd best midfielder. I didn't feel that way at the begining of the year. Trade either Dema or Olsen, but not both.

I agree. I think that Gomez is likely moved for a target forward.

I think we should keep Gomez before Adu or Q...Neither of them will be with us in 3 years anyways. Gomez, I feel, will be with us for some time, unless we trade him out.
Q for a target forward.

In the log run you are probably right- IF Adu is sticking around MLS longer than a year and a half. Otherwise Freddy has as little shelf life as Jaime especially. But it's interesting- beyond two years say our beloved team is goona look a helluva lot different than it does today. Almost all of the main offensive players (Moreno, Adu, Gomez, and Olsen) will be gone or strctly used as a late sub. Dema's an unknown: Will he take a pay cut? Do we want him anyway?) Esky is also an unknown but I just can't see him no longer having head problems. That leaves Walker, Gros, and probably Quaranta as the only two long term offensive players. The defense is more set for years, although of course there will be adjustments, but the offense...
Since that is the case it would be good IMO to get some new long-term offensive blood. Some young guy who could help us for years. THIS is why I would look seriously into trading Freddy. Get some long-term value for him now. Even if Fred blew up next year with the metro I'd be happy with, say, Eddie Gaven, knowing that Eddie would be with us for years being an all-star after Fred's in Europe. Moreno (especially) and Christian just won't have much trade value compared to Fred, though if a team gave us a good offer I'd be tempted to do the trade. Still it would have to be a good trade and I don't think we'd get that with those two.

A forward and a midfielder who finished in the top ten for goals and assists would be great to trade, especially if you're trying to move them on before their sell-by date. However, that's a few years away. Anyways, teams would jump down our throat for players like that. We could offer either to half the teams in the league and come out with a superior deal. I just don't think either is likely as they are our main cogs and relatively inexpensive.

Based on bang for buck and intuition, untouchables include:
Carroll
Boswell
Gomez
Jaime
Simms
Namoff
Olsen
Walker

You can put all those guys together and you'd get less than if you traded just Adu.

Trade Freddy to Metros for Eddie Gaven, plus a forward, plus a draft pick.

Why do people want Gaven so bad?
Of all of our gaping holes, midfield is not top priority. We need capable defenders, a full sized GK, and a goal poacher/target striker.
Gaven wouldn't much more time than Adu currently does.
