Hertha are off this week
Hamburger SV have a what looks like an easy game in the AOL Arena against Norwegian side Viking Stavanger
Stuttgart have an extremely tough game in the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion against Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk.
However, I expect 2 wins, as we are home in both legs, and both teams should be good to go into the next round (and Hertha, too, of course)

Shakhtar will be a tough one (Let's not talk about last year!). The eastern european teams are nicely reestablishing themselves in european competition. It's great.. shakes up the balance.

Hamburg should win.
I'm nervous of the Shaktar game, they have the ability to beat us even on our home ground. I think we can win, but it'll be tough - this is our toughest game of the group. I would be satisfied with a draw but a win would be really nice for our confidence and it would put us in an excellent position to win the group which would allow us an easier opponent in the next round.

Hamburg should win.
Normally, yes. Stavanger is a side, who stands very compact and have a very fast striker with Nhlenko.
Their tactic will be counters.
HSV has to play concentrated, so no bad passes, then the match works IMO.
Furthermore good free-kicks (VdV) are also helpful in such matches.#
Much luck to you, HSV and VfB.

and half-time: 1-0 HSV
Match is a bit boring, but HSV played good, had some chances to make the 2nd one.
Hope they make it soon in 2nd half, then the match is decided.

German youth team. Good football education at Tennis Borussia Berlin youth,
then he went to Schalke and since last year HSV.

What's up with Hildebrand? I heard something about him and Trap having a falling out. Can someone confirm this?

He's not with the current U21 though, is he ? While Starvanger wasn't much of an opponent he showed some pretty good touches. But then again he'd have to compete against Hilbert and the ( imo slightly overrated ) Odonkor.

You are right, he isn´t in current team,
but he made matches for other German youth national teams (u-18 afair),
when he was younger.
Don´t know, if Odonkor is overrated. He´s one of the fastest players in BL,
but his problem is, that his crosses are very bad for a winger.
btw: Donezk leads in Stuttgart 1-0. :(

They seem to do well against german teams... :(
BTW Odonkor reminds me of Rommedahl that way (game based on speed). I can't see him being a major part of the senior NT.

Crosses are kinda the whole point of a winger :) Especially if you have an explicit penalty box striker like Hanke is.
Anyway, back to UEFA Cup :p

I hate to watch a away match for Doneszk, they play very unattractive.
Their tactic is to play very slow and bring the opponent to sleep.
When their opponent is then a bit unconcentrated and then bang -
from one second to another they start playing football, make a god counter and lead.
That´s very clever, but no good match for fans, who like entertaiment.
btw: Here´s their goal after a counter:
