First, some background info--
My computer crashed about two months ago and I rebuilt it from scratch. I'm running Windows XP with all the latest patches. I've also done a virus scan (using Symantec v.10.something, again with all the latest patches and updates) and it's clean
The problem--
I'm having some problems with external disks. I have an external HD and a video camera that connect via USB. Whenever I try to access them, it says "The disk is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?" Of course, I know that formatting it will erase everything and I want to avoid that if possible.
The strange thing is that these worked fine before the crash and now, I get this error.
Any ideas of what's going on?
