Miami Vice remake being filmed in Peru...
from Herald pickup of the tabloid known as NY Post:
..."Eagerly awaiting the Miami Vice movie, are you? Bad news: It's shaping up as a complete shambles, says the N.Y. Post. The budget has ballooned from $120 million U.S. to $180 big ones, and nobody's sure it won't be more. Stars Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell aren't too focused, says the Post, referring to "constant partying" at "almost every hotel bar and club in town," especially by Farrell. Also, Colin can't get along with director Michael Mann, nor apparently with Foxx. The two stars squabbled over pay, until they each ended up with $10 million. Shooting, planned for three months, has taken six so far, isn't done, and has now moved from Miami to Peru because of damage from Hurricane Wilma. Otherwise, everything's fine."

Sol down for the 3rd straight month...
some snippets from Bloomberg:
BLOOMBERG--Peru's sol currency is headed for its third straight monthly decline as rising U.S. interest rates have led some domestic investors to seek higher returns in dollar-denominated assets.
The sol is down 1 percent against the dollar this month as the central bank has held lending rates unchanged within a half point of a three-year low for 12 months. Higher U.S. rates have attracted local investors, led by pension funds, to dollar-denominated investments with higher yields, said Whitney Kane Gomez, Latin America strategist with Morgan Stanley in New York.
''What we think we've seen is a move by a lot of pension funds in Peru to move their assets out of local paper to dollar paper,'' Gomez said in a telephone interview.
Peru's currency traded at 3.3750 per dollar at 1:38 p.m. New York time from Oct. 28, down from 3.3400 per dollar on Sept. 30 and its Aug. 26 rate of 3.2575, near its strongest level since January 1999. The sol has declined 3.5 percent since Aug. 26, the worst performance among Latin American currencies.
U.S. Federal Reserve policy makers tomorrow will raise their target rate to 4 percent from 3.75 percent, according to all 22 primary dealers of U.S. government securities surveyed by Bloomberg, the 12th increase of a quarter-point since June 2004.
In the year since Peru's central bank last raised interest rates, the Fed has pushed up interest rates in the world's biggest economy from 1.75 percent.
Peru's central bank has left its overnight rate at 3.75 percent since October 2004, meaning its reference rate, halfway between the overnight rate, charged to lend overnight to banks, and its credits rate, at 2.25 percent, paid to borrow from banks, fell below the U.S. benchmark in late June.
The sol on July 7 reached 3.2485 per dollar, its strongest trading at 3.2400 per dollar on Jan. 20, 1999.
Peru's annual inflation rate dropped to less than half of the central bank's target of 2.5 percent in September, as prices for foodstuffs, phones rates and natural gas declined...
