Who do you think will be gone this offseason?

Pick the players you think will be gone before next season.

I was inclined to say Quaranta, but I think next year will be Moreno's last (for no reason other than a hunch) so I think we'll keep Tino around to take his place.

You left out Dema, Ben, and Brandon.

I wanted to keep it at 12 choices.

I know most peoples opinions about Dema, Brandon, and to a lesser extend Brandon. Was curious about others.

Thanks for moving this, Knave.

I've been thinking that pretty much the last half of the season. They seem to be similar players, and I don't think Tino is the answer on the right.

Among this list, at his current salary Tino is expendable. But if he took a pay cut, he could look to fill Jamie's spot one day.

Walker makes pennies. He probably has the second or third highest dollars-to-goals ratio in the league (H. Gomez, and Rolfe are probably higher), there's no reason to move him.

Van Sicklen has been a dissappointment. And I don't expect much from college rookies. Guys like Gros or Boswell are the exception, not the norm. But Van Sicklen always looked lost, even during the warmup drills. The other 'kids' like Kuykendall, Merritt, and Nickell looked way more confident than Nick. And Goff has singled him out several times as a player that he does not expect to return.

Ha! Good catch.

Dema, Ben, Brandon is what I meant. :o

Seriously, the two guys who gives us the least bang for the buck, and they don't make the list?

Oughta be Dema, but he and Piotr seem to have some kind of Eastern Euro bond that prevents Piotr from objectively assessing Dema's play. Ben is, along with Moreno, the "face" of DC to the supporters. He'd be tough to trade.

OK, I take it back, maybe it's not such a bad list. ;)

Crap, I always fail to notice when polls allow you to pick more than one choice.

Adu - Stay - Letting him go could come back to haunt us in a big way
Arena - Go - Dev slots are for players who might develop into first teamers. He's past his sell-by date in this regard.
Boswell - Stay
Carroll - Stay
Erpen - Stay - I've been one of his harshest critics, but he's too young and talented to give up on.
Esky - Stay - No trade value. If he can return to form, great. If not, thanks for a great 2004.
Filo - Stay - assuming he's not making some ridiculous salary
Gomez - Undecided - I'm not sure if I can put the spitting incident in the past. He's also on the wrong side of 30.
Gros - Stay
Kovalenko - Go - I love Dema, but his salary will have to come down if he's to stay
Moreno - Stay - He's got one more good year in him.
Namoff - Stay
Olsen - Stay - but if Dema stays, he has to go.
Perkins - Stay - cheap and good enough for a backup
Prideaux - Go
Quaranta - Stay
Rimando - Go
Simms - Stay
Walker - Stay
Wilson - Stay

Edit

Stokes - Go - Hasn't shown enough to stay now that he's sure to no longer be cap exempt
Van Sicklen - If he was hurt this year, stay. If not, Go.
Thompson - Stay - love his hustle and attitude. If he can't crack the first team next year, he's done.
deRoux - Stay? - don't know a thing about the kid
Kuffour - Stay - Still think he might become a player in this league
Kuykendall - Stay - Showed he belongs. If Dema or Olsen go, he'll see more minutes.
Merritt - Stay
Nickell - Stay
Weber - Doesn't matter.

Adu - go: trade him to NY
Arena - who cares
Boswell - stay: with he and Erpen in the middle we could play a decent 4-4-2
Carroll - stay: decent MLS player
Erpen - stay: see Boswell
Esky - stay: hopefully he can play again
Filo - go: a waste
Gomez - stay
Gross - stay: need his work rate when Dema and Benny go
Kovalenko - go
Moreno -stay
Namoff - stay
Olsen - go
Perkins- stay: we need a decent backup for whomever we bring in to replace Rimando
Prideaux - go: cannot mark up
Quaranta - stay: try him for one more season
Rimando - GO

Arena
Kuffour
forgot to vote Stokes

I have a feeling Q will be looking overseas now (can he get an Italian passport?)

Kovalenko or Olsen

Rimando moves to bench behind Perkins

Prideaux will be kept as a backup unless DC can find 3 defenders better than he is (see Arena and Stokes)

Filomeno

For my money, the only players that I think we should kick to the curb are as follows:

Rimando.
Prideaux.

These are two players that have had repeated howlers in important matches. We could get some decent talent from their departures (not great, but ok) and could clear a little cap room.

Of course, the elephant in the room is the Fredua Impasse. I cannot predict what will happen there, but IF he goes, then I still say that we need to shop Rimando and Prideaux, as their suckitude needs to be dealt away.

I liked what I saw (little it may be) of Filomeno. I am disappointed in Gomez and his unsporting outburst. He has done so much, however, that it does not wipe away his good season entirely. In fact, in a contortion of logic, I'm a little bit impressed that he was showing some passion (albeit highly misguided and reprehensible) out there as opposed to taking it and asking for more like several others did.

I'm down on Tino and Dema, but they have upsides that merit holding. Yes, I said that: Dema has an upside. Count me in the ever shrinking camp of Dema backers. I would have preferred to see Gros in the game, but I have had little problem with Dema this season, even considering his flagrant temper. I guess that I would rather see that than passivity.

Cheers,
Tim
