I would say he is a very well known name, but i think most people right now hold Ronaldinho Gaucho in higher regards compared to Ronaldo

This isn't about who is a better player etc.. but about who has the largest fan base.. Two different things... Likely in the entire world that would be Beckham but that's just an educated guess.. As far as who is second in the "who's your favorite player" polls.. Ronaldo may very well be 2nd..
I guess we'll have to find some worldwide poll somewhere by doing some research as we won't settle it this way.. ;)

Beckham doesn't have larger fan base than Ronaldo, all his he has is bunch of ladies who knows crap about football. And his fans are mostly from Asia, where as Ronaldo has fans from all over the World, no kidding? don't believe me then get off your butt and travel to other continents like me and see yourself.

I've been to Asia, Africa, N. America and I tell you that Beckham is nothing compared to Ronaldo in popularity...don't let those fans who you see in Japan/China singing Becks name fool you...Thats all he has but Ronaldo has the rest of the Asian countries, Africa in particular and N. America...now let's not talk about how many fans he has in S. America. ;)

All I was saying that if a worldwide survey was done, and surveys don't separate true fans from those who like the way Becks looks, Becks may win.. Has nothing to do with how a player plays.. That was my original point... ;)

As far as getting off my butt and going to other parts of the world to see for myself.. lol.. You assume a lot... That's all I have done for most of my life because of my work...Lighting director for rock and pop bands. About the only place I haven't been is Cuba and the poles.. ;)

It will depend on what country you are talking about. Beckham is more popular in Japan and the SE Asia, but Ronaldo, despite what the English press said about it, is more popular than Beckham in China. I am from that part of the world!!! I am Chinese married to a Japanese and frequently visited Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Indoensia. I do agree the true fans like Ronaldo better.


If you combine South America and China, Ronaldo should have the biggest fan bases.

Your a lighting director and you get to travel the world. Thats a pretty cool perk i would say!
