people who dont know much about soccer say Brazil is the best team in the world, and those people probably only know Ronaldo and know he's the best player on the BNT squad.. im just speaking from my experience in USA, a lot of people dont follow soccer that well, so whenever someone says soccer, they automatically say, "Brazil is the best team in the world" and then if you asked, whos your favorite player? they automatically say "Ronaldo" if you ask whats your 2nd favorite player, most of them stop instantly..

but the best brazilian player or any soccer player well known in the united states is still PELE! how amazing!he still does commercials here like the one he did with Adu!

Beckham is loved by children under the age of 16, and women who love his looks and know nothing about soccer. Whereas Ronaldo is loved by people that actually know about soccer. I have been to Thailand, Indonesia and different parts of asia, and I can tell you that they love Ronaldo/Zidane, however last year in Thailand Ronaldinho shirts were the most popular. Beckham is a marketing product and his marketing/PR team have made many people believe that he is STILL the most popular which is not true.

A survey was done in Britain for the most popular sports personality or something like that, and Lampard came out tops with Beckham about 6th place.
