Well, Nike clothing is made in many different factories in many countries. Nike actually look for the cheapest factory in a particular country, and choose the factory. This is why some apparel is different in sizing.
I'm not sure if this is the same issue with footwear.
Sorry, I didn't actually answer your question! lol :p :o

Nah it won't affect the quality, just look at the legends as you said they are made from China. China is a rapidly growing country in terms of their economical power, so to attract more Multinational Organisations(Reebok, Nike, Nokia, any other big companies) to set up factories and office branches there, they offer labour at a cheap price so that thense big companies can take advantage of the cheap labour, and money saved on labour can be spent on other stuff. Only problem i feel is that China lack in speacialised labour, although their labour force is in abundant and cost cheapest than anywhere.

Ive asked some shop owners and the reply is unanimous - nike wanted to save costs with the legends becoz leather costs more than synthetics. Of course quality is affected. With lower labour costs, comes lesser dedication. And trust me, china's labour efforts are still not in the same league as certain asian or european countries. When their quality rises, so will labour costs.

the german factory which produces the copas will want to uphold some standard and rep and therefore will be much more dedicated. When you see a "made in Germany" tag, dont you already expect a cretain high standard even b4 trying them on? Cant say the same for the Vietnamese factory which produces most consumer(pro?) f50s and preds, can we? same goes with the production of the AZTs as compared to the legends. makes sense to me. When you see a "made in China" tag, instantly comes a not so popular image, form experience with my own boots, the china made ones hold up better than the vietnamese and indo ones, but of course the european made ones last me the longest. Comments are personal. But im sure China is rapidly catching up and quality will improve hopefully.People in China are very monetarily motivated, so pay more and they'll make better shoes.
