It should be obvious to anyone with functioning brain cells that Nowak and Adu can't get along.
Who do you think Kevin Payne will ship out first?
Nowak?
Or Adu?

So, how were you able to come to this conclusion? :p

I think Novak will try and coach in Poland next season. I think he would've tried this no matter what happened with DC. I think Kevin P thinks that Freddy is too big an investment (i.e. to sell) and will look to bring in a coach that is better at team management.
This is all if Piotr goes - I don't think he will be fired, and if he does stay Freddy will need to look hard at his options. Contrary to what Mr. As_shat Whinealday says, I don't think any other MLS team will be a good fit for Freddy - he still has a great deal to learn, but he has to realize that and not listen to those who don't have his best interests at heart. Maybe the Bruce can sit him down in private.
So, I don't think Novak will be fired - it is his job to leave, and I think Freddy can succeed here next season with the right attitude. Peter needs to work on on the field and off the field game and player management, he doesn't seem to know how and when to make tactical changes. We also need an upgrade on the back line and in goal. I would love to see how Filomeno pans out and hope Esky comes back.
On to next year - but I will be at MLS cup cheering for Colorado.

Although I don't think he deserves to be back, Payne announced today that they have exercised their 2006 option on Nowak, so he appears set to come back.
Adu is not going to go anywhere unless we're offered talent that we actually want, and I'm not convinced that will happen. He remains an off-field asset to Payne & Co., as evidenced by the fact that an Adu gimmick is one of the main perks for renewing 2006 season tickets. Adu has played 60+ minutes per game on a team that played more games than anyone else in MLS. He can bitch and moan if he wants, but he has no legitimate gripe since he is playing, and he'll continue to play next year as Gomez gets older and needs more breaks throughout the season (to avoid the October burnout that we saw all month).
I would bet at this point on both of them coming back.

Payne, however, said he fully expects the teenager to return to the club in 2006. Payne also confirmed that the club has exercised its option to retain Coach Peter Nowak, who has had an increasingly strained relationship with the teenager

So Nowak will stay for another year.
Let's see what the Metros will now give up to DC to get Adu.
And yes, I FULLY expect MLS/AEG/Motzkin to engineer Adu's escape from DC, just as MLS/AEG/Motzkin had engineerered Landon's escape from "The Detroit of the 21st Century".

Adu's gone, Nowak stays.
That's my guess from reading what Payne said.
I think it'd be nuts to keep both of them on the same team at this point. Why not just cut and run. There's a lot DC can get for Adu-and chances are Adu's gone to Europe in a year or 2.
I wouldn't be shocked if both of them are gone. I'd be surprised if both of them are still around next year.

I believe they will both hit the road. Adu will sit for the first half and be brought on about the 70th minute. Nowak will annoyingly be asked to give his opinion on the color of the sky in Columbus and he will say that it is what it is. And then Brandi will say "Back to you guys." And well that will be that, why?

There's no reason to close this thread. Half the question remains unanswered. How about I change the title to reflect that fact?

So is that another Oliver sockpuppet?
Yeah, that seems like a good reason to close it.

Looking more and more like Gomez put this team on his back to the championship last year. We're talking about Adu ......... but Piotr has a long way to go himself. This team is unathletic, and i said during the offseason that we would struggle using the same old unathletic suspects when teams like the Fire and Galaxy were loading up with guys who had other gears. Instead we're still playing Namoff and Prideaux over Boswell (stealing valuable minutes from his development), Simms behind Olsen (who is on his last leg), Dema over anybody, etc. Meanwhile, Piotr's poor lineups and nonexistent substitution patterns directly got us bounced out of the US Open Cup and Copa Sudamericana. He exacerbated the situation with Adu, which could have been waved away without a care in the world. He simply is an average coach. Forget Adu. We need to be trying to ship off Olsen, Dema and Prideaux, which would force us to play better people in those positions, since Piotr won't have those crutches to continually fall back on. Yeah, I know Olsen is loved. But business is business.
