"PARIS Feb 3, 2007 (AP)— Forty-five nations answered France's call Saturday for a new environmental body to slow inevitable global warming and protect the planet, perhaps with policing powers to punish violators."
http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory?id=2847081
Among the nations that did not support the body is the United States, one of the biggest polluters in the world.

Chirac mentioned something about a carbon tax imposed on exporst? I wonder how the united states would respond to that.

Let's see them try.
After reading the article, if the taxes are imposed, it will be Europe-wide, not just France.

"(AP) A leaked cockpit video published Tuesday captures a dramatic exchange between two American pilots whose voices choke up when they learn they have killed a British soldier in a 2003 friendly fire incident in Iraq. "I'm going to be sick. We're in jail, dude," one pilot says."

So do you think that France will do well against the Irish this weekend? The game against Italy was a great game, I was the only France fan in the bar so most of the time it was so quite you could hear the sighs as italy kept giving up points :D But I am looking more so to the France v England match coming up soon

That's Des Plaines, Illinois ? I love the name of this place (and proud that my fellow citizens planted a few flags in North America).
This said, I think we are better than the Irish. Our game vs Italy was a walk in the park, and the Irish weren't that impressive vs Wales. The Irishmen are experienced, thoughfull, they know how to control their pace in a game, they know when they have to put the pressure .... but on sheer speed and power, we beat them easily.
Chabal will crush their defense like a rhino among ballerinas.
And of course, as usual, the French Flair will make the difference. We are so good it's almost unfair to the others.

Yes you are correct we are in Illinois. We have alot of French place names and alot of history hear, but you dont really hear about it too much. I think everyone here is to busy pertending they are Irish :D Speaking of that I will once again probably be the only one rooting for the French team on sunday.

They could always levy their own tax to balance it all out. Sooner or later both sides would probably take away the taxes :p
