Aside from the mass hysteria which seems to have gripped the board we are still in the middle of the season and we have a game to play on Wednesday.
Let's hope to see a big response from the players.

Yes and I do think that we will, we all know that the boro games was a blimp. Now the players really have something to prove, I thought that they already felt that way before, but now they have to.

They will no doubt have videos of the boro game and will maybe even try and replicate what boro did. Lille are performing like a side that qualified for the CL in ligue 1 now so this is not going to be the dire team we saw here two weeks ago.
The problem is going to be confidence I think. A few stray passes and we could fall apart without a leader on the pitch... I hope the lads have had clear the air talks amogst themselves and don't 'hide' on Wednesday!!

That really in essence was the problem against Boro, noone stepped forward, or not many enough. Wayne and Kieran tried, Smiffy always tries. But if you have a collective "off day" everyone needs to dig in.
But I think that we will see Lille pay for the boro games as well for the physical game they brought to OT. If those two combined does not light a fire under our asses, then I'll start to wonder..

ok so it is on ESPN 2 at 2:30 est 1:30 cst I believe. I will be watching again, hopefully we can change things around.
Fergie needs to put some drastic changes in place IMO to , if nothing else, show the players that their positions are not safe and that he does want the results no matter what we he has to get them.

That makes perfect sense to me, Smith CAN play better if he does not have to play two ways and so can Scholes, I know they both can do it. It simplifies both their roles and allows them to concentrate on what they can do best (maybe not Smith, but he is learning).
The only problem is getting Fergie to agree.

I think Rio will be in the team, SAF will stick with him. Although the last time I predicted that Sven would stick by Rio he was dropped ;)
Rio knows he's not up to the standards right now, there's no reason to leave him out of the team to make him see that. Brown is still not match fit enough for SAF to hand him a start in an important CL game.

I want this lineup. I want Bardsley, Brown, Silvestre dedicated to defense, no bullsh!t. I want Fletcher and Miller to be the bridge between defense and attack, no nonsense in midfield. Rooney will play the new Scholes role, dropping back for the ball if he has to. Ronaldo and Park run up and down the wings, Smith does the bruising up front, unsettling defences while Ruud does his thing.
Drop this stinking 4-3-3, drop Scholes, drop apoca-lips Rio and lets see what these guys are made of.

You do realize that anything will be better than that crap our midfield has been putting out for sometime now? It's time to give him a chance and a sustained run in the first team, why the hell sign him if you only play him in the mickey mouse cup?

The best medicine would be to win this game, especially since it would a win on the road.

While I do believe that our mifield performances lately have been under all critisism I'm not sure that Miller is the answer as he has not even performed in the reserves. But looking at team selections he is the next one in line and it would make sense in a kind of unlogical way. Apart from Miller I think your team looks interesting. Just too bad that we don't have the chance to experiment with a back three. I have always liked it in theory... never really seen it work in practice..
