Damn, nobody can stop them?
Do we want them "stopped"...`? :D
Seriously, Hoffy is spending like a 1.Buli club already, let them have their chance to "live the dream".

They have spent almost € 20 million this season ... so I expect Hopp to invest at least € 40-50 million in the 1. Bundesliga.
Well, nevertheless they won't reach an UEFA Cup or CL spot (just look what Wolfsburg have achieved with their VW millions until now)!

I'm also wondering about that. As fan of a club also battling for promotion, I'm probably prejudiced, but even if Köln won't make it I would certainly prefer Mainz oder Freiburg or even Fürth to promote instead of Hoffenheim.
Somehow they don't match my interpretation of an underdog.

But Köln, a club rather similar in size to Schalke or Dortmund does..?

"live the dream".
What dream? "You can achieve everything, as long as you are rich"?
Clubs like Hoffenheim are a cancer. Football just isn't fun anymore. But I don't really care anymore, let the Disneyworld crowd have it.

Not per se but I´m curious to how he regards Köln..

And if it was happening to Braunschweig..?

It is already. Not on the scale of Hoffenheim, but it's still a bunch of guys I don't care about kicking against a ball. I might not be a complete hollow, soulless shell like some Bundesliga clubs, but the differences are just cosmetic.
I havent been to the stadium anymore for over a year anyway, I still closely follow through Internet, TV and papers, but that's mostly out of habit. If Braunschweig plays against Hannover, the players are from Albania, Romania, Hungary or Malta anyway (nothing against those guys of course, but if the players don't really care about whom they play, why should I?). You need to be a major hypocrite to be the fan of a football club these days - and while I already said this for quite some time, I'm more and more tempted to spend my time on more interesting things recently.

Well, what could be more interesting...Music? Art? Politics?
For me there is no turning back, I´m stuck with supporting my club as a lifestyle regardless of what the club stands for.
I guess it´s that almost religious feeling when one becomes the club and the club is manifested in the individual...;)

Arts and music certainly, politics is a bit too depressing for my tastes. Supporting something regardless of what it stands for is a bit too scary for me, though.
Clubs used to represent something, but now that what happens on the field is pretty much random ("my player that hadn't heard about our clubs until 2 minutes before signing here is better than your player that hadn't heard about our clubs until 2 minutes before signing there! I rock!") I don't really want to put too much effort into it anymore.

I can see your point, but I don't begrudge Hoffy one bit. I still think they are promoted.

I wish Hoffenheim wouldn't get promoted:
- i'm not looking forward to playing them
- it's not a place i'd want to visit for games
- I don't think it would be a good advertisement for German football if a side like this succeeded in becoming a threat.
- Successes for this club won't make anyone happy anyway, besides maybe Hopp, since no one supports them.
- If I was to go for an underdog to be promoted, it would be Mainz. A core set of fans who really care for the team, and limited finances but nonetheless relative success due to good management. hoffenheim are not underdogs imo, as they are the richest club in the 2. Liga. Really they should be promoted, I just hoped it wouldn't come as early as their first professional season.

Well, there´s a huge gap between getting promoted and becoming a force in German football so it doesn´t worry me.
The comparison with Mainz are valid though but notice that as members and fanclubs go they are level with Cottbus.

I really like Mainz... i hope they do well. Great fans, Great atmosphere. They deserve to be promoted. If Hoffenheim becomes another WoB with indifferent mid table results every year and no atmosphere, i rather they stay in 2. league, but if they will be competitive i don't mind... it might be an interesting project we'll see.

Where'd you here that???
I'm not doubting you but I certainly am surprised if this is the case.

Kicker.de and the official sites
That said Cottbus is no giant really and Hoffenheims location makes fanclubs in the surrounding towns logical.

Exactly. There are plenty of people in the areas between Hoffenheim and Stuttgart, Hoffenheim and Heidelberg/Mannheim, Hoffenheim and Kaiserslautern, etc.
They will get more fan support than people think. People in that region will appreciate not having to drive to Stuttgart, Karlsruhe (for how much longer, we don't know) or Frankfurt to get some 1. Liga football.
Of course the die-hards of those clubs just mentioned will stick with those clubs. But Hoffenheim will get fans.
And I really wish some of you would remember that even your most "tradition-rich" clubs all had to start somewhere.......

All clubs start somewhere, but when this club is thrown in to a pool of popular sides who built their support a long, long time ago, it'll be a very weird scenario.
