Yes, they did. And they sold out the Carl-Benz Stadion today too.
This could be quite a story......
I actually have money on Hoppenheim making the UEFA-Cup on betandwin.
should they make the CL I wouldn't get anything though. ;)

Yeah what a story, a team bought together with some 20 million Euros beats two major relegation candidates in a row... I can allready see the movie!!
RWO gained promotion to 2nd div last season entirely with players from their region! THAT I call a story...

It always gives me a chuckle when people in the media call the rise of Hoffenheim a "miracle" or "fairytale". It's simply the result of a good coach plus shitloads of money. Not surprising at all.

Subsume good coach under shitloads of money.
Also subsume good general management under the same term...
Ever since there was some violence and insults against Hoffenheim last autumn the media have been churning out pro-Hoffenheim fairytale stories for the sake of pacification.

Thats exactly my point. Why would you call it a "story" if some team spends a shitload of money for players and then beats two teams who clearly werent able to spend even a fraction of that amount, when at the other hand you dont give a shit about an actual "story" about a team who just did some great work and actually achieved something that nobody could have expected?!?
There are plenty of great storys out there in the world of football. Hoffenheim just definitely istn one of them...

In your opinion. There are a few of us at this thread who thinks it is.
You want stories of teams who blew a lot more than Hoffenheim with a lot less success while not having to go as far?
Just look at Koln and Kaiserslautern.
Money doesn't mean a f#cking thing if you don't know what to do with it. My favorite club, Borussia Dortmund, is another perfect example of what I'm saying.
And for what they have spent, some of us not only believe, but we KNOW what Hoffenheim is doing is not only newsworthy, but some could take lessons from it.
Just because YOU don't get it doesn't mean we're wrong.
If you don't care, you don't need to be at this thread. You have an entire Frankfurt thread to talk about what you do care about.
You're here whining, so I guess you do care about it to some extent.

Have to say, the Hoffenheim story does impress me. Here's a guy who played for the club, decided to bag that career and turns into a billionaire. He could have bought an EPL club, MLS, whatever. No, he decides to carry Hoffenheim on his wallet and takes them out of the 12th division and now they are in the Bundesliga. Sure he's bought talent, but what team hasn't spent money on new players?
He's done a lot of impressive things with Hoffy, but he needs to sort out the website, the guy is the founder of SAP, at least get a decent website. English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Unless they win the championship like Kaiserslautern in 1997. :-)

Why should he?

Keep dreaming! It doesn't even have 2nd league standard in German...
Btw: Congrats on a deserved win against BMG.

That was one of the best stories ever.
Why should he? Its not a "Should", its a "Could". He could have joined the ranks of the other billionaires and bought in England. He chose to support the club in his heart. Sure he's spent money, but its on the club he grew up with. I find this admirable.

I'm thinking Oberliga level ;)

I'm more concerned with todays FC game v Eintracht.

He could have thrown in behind an "established" big club with money troubles like Koln, Kaiserslautern or Dortmund and gone the "easy way" too.
I guess that would have been "acceptable" to these f#cking haters.
What bothers me the most is that these guys think all Hoffenheim is doing is spending money to make it.
They don't bother to look deeper and see what exactly is being built there and exactly what Hoffenheim is building for their money.
They don't see that Hopp is truly building a club that will be able to sustain itself in a few years. That is very unlike other big clubs with rich owners who pay lip service to their clubs actually being able to sustain themselves. For a perfect example, see Chelsea.
Back when Abramovich first took over, they talked about getting Chelsea to where it could sustain itself. And here we are, more than five years later and not only are they no closer to it, they are actually further away from it!
This will not be the case with Hoffenheim. That new stadium will go a long way to seeing this mission accomplished.
Why? Because they are spending, but not stupidly and not as much as people try to make it seem they are.
If Hopp truly did what some of these guys seem to accuse him of, he could have simply bought First Bundesliga players five years ago and not built the club of his youth into a youth powerhouse as well as a formidable club at the 1st/2nd Bundesliga level.
Nor do I think they WANT to see these things.........
They'd rather just bitch and complain.

Why should a German billionaire buy an English club?
Same reason the Russians, AMericans, and whoever else has cash, they can't buy an NFL club, so go EPL for the investment.

Another thing that's funny. One talked about a local story. Well, Hoffenheim's U-17s won the German Championship.
And they didn't do it by buying talent from around Germany.
According to Ralf Rangnick, none of those kids are from more than 50 kilometers from Hoffenheim........
Of course, that's an area that includes Heidelberg, Stuttgart and Mannheim too.

Btw, Rangnick tried to tell people last week that the salary budget for his team was the same as for the Cottbus team, even giving a figure (23m). It was blatantly wrong, Cottbus is working with around 13m of salaries.
That basically sums it up for me, I'm not against Hoffenheim but I'm not willing to give them particular credit for anything they don't deserve it for plus I've had enough of the "fairytale" and "cute little village" stories for now. Hopp deserves credit for building his business.
PS: Great, intelligent move of DFB president Theo Zwanziger to be Hoffenheim's greatest advocate when your son is being employed there.

Why do you think I said "According to Ralf Rangnick??"
I don't have the proof myself, so I didn't present the statement as "fact."
