well, so far it's only you and him. it seems that the majority of BL fans in this forum don't like Hoffnhim and the way the team was bought instead of built. the fan is the consumer and if the fan doesn't like the product he doesn't buy it.
Nobody is expecting YOU to buy it.
But the fans of that region will.......
I think they don't give a rat's ass about what YOU think about it.

But the fans of that region will.......
remains to be seen in the long run. if the team is successful in the short term there will be a lot jumping on the bandwaggon. if not, I doubt it very much...

A lot will depend on marketing as well. If Hopp does a better job with the new stadium he could develop a following very quickly. I know if I was in charge of marketing the team what plans i would put in place, but I'm not, so I won't.

The fact remains that those fans in that region have not had any high level football of their own to support since the Mannheim clubs went to hell.
If Hoffenheim can stay with their business plan, (By that plan, it is not imperative they stay in the 1. Liga this time, though they would like to.) and convert that into success on the pitch, yes, I think the fans of that region will happily jump on the bandwagon.
And when they open that new stadium after the winter break, many fans will go there just to be seen much like the AA when Bayern plays.
I'm pretty sure the DFL schedule makers will save some of the big names for the second half of the season in Hoffenheim.
I may go to a couple of their matches myself this season. I'll definitely be up there when they play BVB.
For me, it's the perfect excuse to get back to visit friends in Heidelberg, which is where I think they will draw many of their non-Sinsheim crowd from.
One of my old friends up there isn't even a football fan, but he's taking his young son to the Hoffenheim matches. He won't be the only one like that.

Same with Hoffenheim and Rangnick, but they were surprisingly very passive (in the summer transfer market) so far.
Because Hoffenheim actually has a football-based PLAN no one is giving them credit for. People think they are just riding Hopp's money and buying their way up.
Yeah, the money is a big part, but the reason Hoffenheim isn't spending big is because that doesn't fit with their plans.
They are building a club for the future. It isn't even imperative they stay in the 1. Liga after this season. They made it two years ahead of their schedule. They can easily absorb relegation because it is getting their young team the experience they want to get.
Does anyone even realize their B-Junioren (U-17s) won the German Championship this season? Their U-16s won their regional title. They already have one of the best youth departments in German football. That's where they are building.
But people (not you EE, speaking in general here) are so focused on Hopp's money and whining about Hopp's money, they aren't even trying to see what kind of football club they are building in Hoffenheim.
Hoffenheim reminds me more of a SC Freiburg under Volker Finke with money than FC Bayern or Chelsea.
EDIT: Hoffenheim is even denying Spanish reports they made Real Betis a 7.5M Euro offer for Brazilian striker Rafael Sobis. Here is the story in German at kicker.de (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/380569/).

You are right footy, their youth departments and
the training departments in general are really class.
Their squad is also very young (if you exclude Seitz and Copado it is a U23 side), but nevertheless they are a big spender (in young talents).
Last year they had a transfer deficit of more than 18 million €,
which is an all-time record for a 2.BL team and thatīs why i wrote i am a bit surprised, that this summer break so far they havenīt gone for getting high profile talents from all around the world like they did it last year
(Carlos Edurado, Obasi, Ba, ...).

Right. This is what Chelsea claimed they would do and actually tried to do, but their youngsters would never truly get chances.
If you want proof there, just look at Shaun Wright-Phillips and Robert Huth.
Hoffenheim is doing it.

Because they bought those guys with an eye of finishing in the 2. Liga's top six. They never thought they'd win promotion, but they caught fire and kept it up.
I think they are going to keep doing it with young guys.
People assume because Hopp is there, they would raid other clubs and they just haven't done that. That is not part of their plan.
And I won't blame them for buying high-priced players if they decide they want to change plans and try harder to stay up, but I don't think they will.
Maybe one or two later.
They might be a player in the winter transfer market too.
But I think they will look to South America rather than high-priced European players.
I hear they have a very good set up in SA. ;)

Dude I said "like a SC Freiburg under Volker Finke "WITH MONEY!"
What part of that do you not understand??
I think you were so quick to be "insulted" that you didn't even try to understand what I meant.

My bad I read it quickly. I still think its a big difference though. Because most of Finke's player were not from the Freiburg Fussballschule they were bought cheaply abroad from unusual places (Georgia, Eastern Europe, Burkina Faso, etc.)
While Hoffenheim has bought a lot in Germany (Ibertsberger, Beck, Ibisevic, Haas, Weis, Commper) He has also bought from "traditional" footballing nations. (Gustavo [Brazil], Eduardo [Brazil], Oezcan [Austria], Obasi [Norway])

Look at their youth teams. That's what I'm talking about. They are building with youth, not just buying names.

Hoffenheim are interesting. They have a lot of money available but they use it within a plan and for that you have to admire them. They aren't "taking advantage" of it, in other words.

Their "plans", they make them up as they go along.
Last year they panicked after a bad start to the season and bought overpriced (yes, young) foreigners too good for the second league.
I don't complain about them but I won't fall for their talk that they are the smartest people ever to run a club.

Well, that's funny. Seeing that Rangnick laid out part of that plan in an interview two years ago......
And no one else here said anything about their being "the smartest people ever to run a club."
That was your f#cking stupid ass comment.
I make it clear nearly every time I write about them that the money helps!

Now, I don't like Bayern or anything, but you really can't say they do not have an amazing youth department... I mean, just look at the last couple of years, there's Rensing, Lahm, Lell, Hummels, Ottl, Schweinsteiger, Kroos and a ton of youth titles...
