I don´t think you can actually complain about investing in football, even if it is a toy for rich people.
I would love to see more of Diego, van der Vaart, Ribery or Toni in the Bundesliga, and to be honest, this is only possible with financially strong investors.
If I had the money, I would love to invest in FC Oberneuland Bremen! I have been playing football there for twelve years now and have a relationship to the club which equals my love to Werder Bremen.
And it´s the same about Hopp, it´s the love to football, the love to Hoffenheim that makes him invest this hugeg amount of money!

Who ever thinks he will ever evenmake profit with Hoffenheim, is absolutely stupid!

And btw: Hopp gave so much of his money away for charity, and isn´t what he is doing right now kind of charity as well? Charity to German football, which is definitely needed! Of course this sounds kind of weird, but to my mind this is how it is!

charity?! With all due respect, Im sure he gives away a lot for charity, and thats good, and of course its entirely his decission where to spend how much of his own money.
But selling Hoffenheim as charity is just... I dont know... Who are the needy he is helping with it?!

The local bundesliga fans who want to see the stars play, but can't afford to travel to all the away games, or can't afford tickets at some of the bigger, more successful teams.

:p:p What?

if these rich investors are allowed such power in the bundesliga...soon we'll probably have ticket pricing like in England with all seater stadiums that truely preserve football fan culture.

it's an odd discussion, i really hate what hopp is doing...I don't think i need to state my reasons because that's already been pointed out long ago.
Obviously there are many who agree and many who don't.

But the only people i've talked to actually wanting Hoppenheim in the 1st liga are the few i've seen on this forum.

That's really funny. I'd never heard of that before.

It's more funny to me because I have an ex-girlfriend living there now.

I'd love to pretend she doesn't exist! LMAO!! :D

How much do you guys think Hoffenheim will buy to try to stay in the 1. Liga??

Anyone think they will try to sign the likes of Ivan Klasnic???

Maybe raid some of the clubs relegated from the 1. Liga?

Yes, it is said, that they are connected with Robert Vittek from 1.FCN.

They should go after Ivan Saenko too.

Hopp will ruin the tf market for a lot of his competitors. Other clubs with money to spend will have to face the situation where they are outpriced by Hopp just because he's in a position to top offers from other clubs and pay more than the fair market value of a player if he wants him for his team.
IMO that stinks and that's one of the reasons why I don't like these billionaires to get involved in creating a successful club with their own money as opposed to sponsors.

They haven't spent stupid money yet. Why don't you just wait and see instead of just wailing at any little thing??

Well. The signs are certainly there. The scenario is already unfolding with players like Vittek, Anderson Pico or Jürgen Säumel. There is no point in ignoring this issue.

Vittek won't cost much. The others? That's what they can do.

Believe it or not, there are no signs that Hopp will even engage in Bayern-type spending.

But it's the source of the money that makes the difference with all of you.

Tough man.

well, so far it's only you and him. it seems that the majority of BL fans in this forum don't like Hoff€nh€im and the way the team was bought instead of built. the fan is the consumer and if the fan doesn't like the product he doesn't buy it.
