Has to be an absolutely gorgeous area.

I'm not sure, but I think it's in the "Kraichgau". Does anyone know?

What are you referring to? Heidelberg or the place "Borussia" posted?

Heidelberg is in the Rhein-Neckar Valley in Baden-Wuerttemburg.

Heidelberg is in the Rhein-Neckar Valley in Baden-Wuerttemburg.

You can also call this area "Kurpfalz" (Mannheim, Heidelberg)

Thank you. And now that you mention it, I do remember that.

MicFW, my apologies if I came across as suggesting you didn't know. It's been eleven years since I've lived there.

No no, everything is fine. :) I think I read that Hoffenheim is located in the Kraichgau, but I wasn't sure if that is correct, that's why I put it into a question. Is it correct? I should have said what I was referring to.

and they have one of the coolest dialects in the country - see Christian Wörns.

Isn't it a pretty big city?

Rührstadt is more or less a single urban community...

It is but you know people are bandwagoners and as Schalke is successfull and a "cult-club" people go to Schalke rather than supporting their home-town club.

Don´t be ridiculous. That´s like saying that a 1860 fan living in Unterhaching is a gloryhunter..For many in Essen it´s closer to visit a Schalke game than watch RWE or SWE

I'd buy Duesseldorf. Mainly because the fantastic stadium is already in place and the fans would actually appreciate you.

That would not be the case in Koln......

The fantastic stadium is there, but the fans would not appreciate you.

When did Köllefans appreciate anything?...But et ess wie et ess as they say there.

Back to good ol´Hoffy now....:D

After winning against Lautern today we can assume that they WILL be a 1.Buli club soon so all our likes and dislikes will face a lithmus test, which I look forward to..

Hey! I had it covered a few posts back :p

Which happens next? Hoffenheim loses or Kaiserslautern wins?

Tough call...:D

Lautern is going down faster than C.Ronaldo while Hoffy looks very stable. Anyway it will be interesting to see how Hopp/Rangnick will handle this situation..I don´t think anyone really expected promotion this season.

I don't know, seems like they spent a lot of money going for promotion:
aison 07/08 -18.470.000
Zugang
Steffen Haas (TSG 1899 Hoffenheim II) -
Vedad Ibisevic (Alemannia Aachen) 1.000.000
Daniel Haas (Hannover 96) 50.000
Tobias Weis (VfB Stuttgart) 150.000
Isaac Vorsah (Kumasi Asante Kotoko) * ?
Per Nilsson (Odd Greenland) 1.900.000
Chinedu Obasi (Lyn Oslo) 5.000.000
Demba Ba (Excelsior Mouscron) 3.000.000
Carlos Eduardo (Gremio Porto Alegre) 7.000.000
Luiz Gustavo (SC Corinthians Alagoano Maceió (AL)) * ?
Marvin Compper (Borussia Mönchengladbach) 100.000
Ramazan Özcan (Red Bull Salzburg) * 20.000
Andreas Ibertsberger (SC Freiburg) 250.000

That's some good cash.

With 15M of it being spent on only three players. I agree with Schwalker. They were just trying to insure they at least retained 2. Liga status. They made it clear before the season that was their goal.

If they wanted to ensure promotion, I guarantee you they would have raided some 1. Liga rosters.

Good point, but they did sign three 1st division players from other countries.

Chinedu Obasi (Lyn Oslo) 5.000.000
Demba Ba (Excelsior Mouscron) 3.000.000
Carlos Eduardo (Gremio Porto Alegre) 7.000.000

These are three pretty big talents that were being chased by quite a few clubs.

Carlos Eduardo: Hoffenheim statt Inter Mailand

Hoffenheim (RPO). Einen solchen Zugang gab es noch nie in der Geschichte der 2. Bundesliga. Das brasilianische Supertalent Carlos Eduardo schlug Angebote vom FC Porto, Benfica Lissabon, Paris St. Germain und Inter Mailand aus, um für 1899 Hoffenheim zu spielen.

lol weird guy, he prefered Hoffenheim over PSG,Benfica,Porto and Inter.

Like I said earlier, there were only three Bundesliga clubs that spent more than Hoffenheim.
Their long-time plan was to make it next season but make no mistake they spent enough money to make it this season.

It's not only the transfer fees they paid that were enomous, they must pay huge salaries as well to convince those players to play there.

Without their big signings they would be in 6th place right now.

Yes, but surrounding those three with decent 2. Liga talent will not always equal promotion. Especially with teams like Gladbach, Mainz, Koln, Freiburg and Aachen out there.

Rangnick is doing a fantastic job with these guys and the entire team.

Thanks for finding that comment. Dietmar must have been offering some really good cash - or maybe he figured he wouldn't play right away at those clubs.

Hoffenheim has the means to spend that much. People begrudge them for that. Tough on them. Hoffenheim could have spent more.

Sorry. I get why some are "miffed" at a club like Hoffenheim, but I just don't care. "Traditional" clubs like BVB, Koln and in the past 1860 and Kaiserslautern, have shown that you can have all the money you want, but if you don't know what you're doing with it, you can still fail.

Their long-time plan was to make it next season but make no mistake they spent enough money to make it this season.

Right. They wanted to insure they remained in the 2. Liga this season. Rangnick is doing a great job, but no one wants to give him the credit he deserves because of the money spent.

I think Otto Rehhagel said it best years ago as Kaiserslautern coach when they were out-distancing Bayern's "millionaire" squad for the 1997/1998 Bundesliga title.

"Money doesn't score goals."

It's not only the transfer fees they paid that were enormous, they must pay huge salaries as well to convince those players to play there.

Exactly. I'll bet those guys live in Heidelberg or Mannheim, not in Hoffenheim.

But when you can pay it, you do it.....

Without their big signings they would be in 6th place right now.

If that. And they've been lucky that none have been out for any really significant amount of time.
