Really we should start a new thread, but I think Germany is more attractive than England for investors.

1) BIGGEST ECONOMY IN EUROPE!
2) highest attendances
3) cheapest tickets
4) Room for growth in TV, merchandise and marketing
5) Growth in concession sales by modifying delivery of products
6) 80,000,000+ population
7) Big cities with under valued clubs: Dusseldorf, Köln, Essen, and I'm sure I'm missing a few.

if I was a mega-wealthy, I'd be buying Köln. If I was modestly wealthy, I'd look at Dusseldorf or Essen.

I´d avoid places like Essen, Like Bochum it´s Schalke heartland...

Isn't it a pretty big city?

It is but you know people are bandwagoners and as Schalke is successfull and a "cult-club" people go to Schalke rather than supporting their home-town club.

yeah, but if I'm the owner, they'll join my cult ;)

as mentioned before, Kind is dreaming. I think there would be only Bayern, Schalke, HIV, Dortmund... maybe Werder and Stuttgart that would get big money and we'll have a situation like England with 3 -- mostly actually just Man U -- teams only that won the championship since 1990 (maybe 4...i don't know when blackburn won theirs) and the spots for European cups are always the same. Ticket prices will natuarally rise and we might even see the end of standing places.

Also to create a big fanbase you need success, you can't deny it. Since 2002 werder got 30.000 new club members (we have a total of 33.333 now). So it makes sense that people in the ruhrpott would not support a regional league team and go for BVB or Schalke.

If we look at Population, Dresden and Leipzig are pretty big cities and maybe hopefully one of these ossi teams would have something if the economy improves in the east.

Investment is good, but like everything, letting it out of control will kill the sport.

Then I guess you guys will turn away from German football in the near future. Because they are eventually going to drop "50+1" and allow ownership of clubs.

I don't WANT to see it myself, but it is coming. What will you "traditionalists" do then?? Leave the game?? Turn your backs on your clubs when someone or some group buys it out??

At least I wouldn't be as passionate as I've been before (I.e. I didn't attend 1 single game of the Nürnberg Icetigers after the takeover from Mr. Hertel & Sinupret).

However, I'm confindent that this won't happen to BMG!

Because it is coming. It is nearly inevitable.

Don't think so.

Give Hopp some credit. He hasn't gone and bought world stars (yet) even though he pretty much can. They have not spent crazy money.

Well, almost € 20 million for a newcomer village club are peanuts, of course...

I wonder how much Hopp is charging for tickets now?

Who cares?

Single tickets range from 4 € - 23,50 € and season tickets range from 112,50 € - 352,50 €

How does that compare to other clubs?

Borussia

You can't compare that because their current stadium is that of a typical village club (although financed by Hopp).

The economical situation in the state of Sachsen is better than in the state of Bremen.

The economical situation in the state of Sachsen is better than in the state of Bremen.

HB is a much smaller state, port city. Saxony is not growing (as far as i know) except for Chemnitz.

It's not easy to compare the two. And saxony has to show that it is stable and safe to invest... so you can't really say that they established themselves yet.

I expected them to be below average for the 2nd B, but it seems they are incredibly low.

We need to have a new thread about Bundesliga business.

When you compare that to how much the man spending the money is worth, yes, it sure as hell is.

The castle is from the region, no idea how close it was to Hoffy. Still the picture that you posted looked beautiful as well. It looks like it was taken from a castle as well.

Eddie, the picture you posted is the Heidelberg castle. It is about a twenty minute drive from where the new stadium will be. I lived in Heidelberg for most of 1996 and 1997.

I'd buy Duesseldorf. Mainly because the fantastic stadium is already in place and the fans would actually appreciate you.

That would not be the case in Koln......

The fantastic stadium is there, but the fans would not appreciate you.

Has to be an absolutely gorgeous area.
