Hello all,

I just purchased a 20 gb iPod. I've been very plased with it as I have about 10 gigs of music on it so far. My question is? What is the battery life supposed to be on this after it's been fully charged? I seem to be getting around 6, maybe 8 hours. Is this normal? I thought it was supposed to be more than that? If so, I'm wondering if I should return it for another one?

If I do exchange ot for another, do I have to re-install all the software again since it would be a new unit? Doesn't the software ask you for the serial number when you first install it? I think I remember that? Any help would be appreciated!

If you want to get the max out of your iPod's battery life, as with pretty much any electronic device, turn off the backlight.

6-8 hours doesn't seem so bad. I gotta be honest with you, I have never used my iPod enough without power to know how long the battery lasts. But I also can't imagine ever listening to it for 8 hours straight and not being near my car or an electrical outlet.

But anyway, if your battery IS bad and you just bought the thing, you'll probably be handed a new iPod when you go back to the store. They don't like to bother with fixing and sending back there. I'm on my third iPod right now and everytime, they just took my word for it on what I said was the problem and gave me a new one.

I do not use the backlight at all. I thought I heard that battery life was around 10 to 12+ hours? Maybe I'm wrong? That's why I was curious as to what other people are getting? If this is normal, I'll deal with it, if not, I'll return it for another one.
