Who is the better manager, Cruyff or Mourinho?

It looks like that their slagging match will continue for some time, with jose's recent comments that he will 'even the score' between the two of them to 2-2 in the slagging off, and that cruyff is effectively giving him something interesting to write about in his newspaper collumn. Cruyff says theat Mourinho has much to learn, jose says he doesnt want to learn how to lose a final 4-0, cruyff says that top footballers and teams must push themselves to give more 'to football', we await joses responce with interest

I personally think that Jose is a better manager, but this is based on a smaller period of time, i much prefer cruyff as a person(from what i have seen, i dont want to make it sound like i actually know the guy), and cruyff the manager had won more silverrware to date, but jose will more than likely outdo him in the next few years.

(ps, if u just look at cruyff the man v jose the man, cruff has far more medals to his name than jose, does that make him better than jose, or do we have to discount these achievements as we are comparing managers, not players?)

Cruyff as a person? Cruyff as a person is a dick. He's always been one, too. That's not an indictment (my favorite player is still a dick too) but it is true.
As for managerial careers - Mourinho has a while to go before getting to Cruyff's achievements. Cruyff won 4 straight league titles in Spain, something Mourinho hasn't really come close to yet. Of course, Mourinho hasn't lost a European final 4-0, either. ;)

Oh, and Mourinho is a prick too, although in a different way. Mourinho does things that are calculated to annoy opponents, moreso than Cruyff ever did. Cruyff is just more of a dick in general. Why he chose to pick a fight with Mourinho, for instance, I'll never know.

Not all of it is calculated (although a fair portion of it is), but he thinks he's good and he says so. He is good. If people want him to be falsely modest, tough. The corollary is that when he does eventually hit a bad spell he'll have to change his tune, or else risk becoming a hypocrite and a dick.

And Mourinho is certainly a dick, he annoys me a lot more then Cruijff. But that probably is because I am Dutch and agree with Cruijff most of the time.

A lot of successful, "respected" managers are/were dicks. The way the game has to be managed can lend itself to those kinds of personalities.

Overall Cruyff has accomplished more, but Mourinho has time on his side. Not that anything is a given in football though. Cruyff has done a good job of wearing himself thin though with his peanut gallery comments. Like Ancelotti said, "If Cruyff needs entertainment he should go to the cinema."

No. The extent of these traits go so far that they're real flaws.
Maybe the disadvantage that they provide would be more obvious to you if you personally knew many people who act like that.

You don't understand wha a mental flaw is. Arrogance, for instance, is not a mental flaw.
