So I'm assuming that you will now relinquish your position as moderator of this forum. After all, if you believe soccer in Canada is dead...

Well, if it's over for Canadian soccer then I'll expect he won't be posting in any BS or Voyageurs forums anymore. What's the point, it's all over.

Canadian soccer has finally been reborn, with luck an new attitude about it as well. This was the only decision that could have saved canadian soccer or at least Toronto's part of it. Forget the pathetic Lynx franchise they were never gonna amount to anything and their management should be ashamed of the poor quailty product they put on the field week in and week out....nobody really cared for them. Now we have MLSE a top notch sports group (?) well better then the Lynx group thats for sure, now going after a MLS team for the new building. This will give pro soccer the re-birth in Toronto it was badly needed. All soccer fans should be excited by this in the Ontario region, if the whitecaps and impact are still crying well thats their problem....Ontario first. Lets go toronto MLS when do season tickets go on sell?

I agree. If soccer in Canada is dead Doyle should resign. No point sticking around a dead corpse right?

A new soccer baby has been born bringing hope and encouragement to all. Soon we hope to have brothers or sisters in both Montreal and Vancouver. Let's nurture these babies and make sure they turn out to be the very best they can be.

The alternative is to adopt DoyleG's attitude, turn our backs and walk away in disdain, in which case these babies will grow up unloved and abandoned and probably end up as worthless crackheads prematurely dead metaphorically speaking.

One SSS approved and nearly off to the races. One going through the approval process, and one who's owner cant make his mind up. I'm hoping the approval of Toronto and its 2007 entry into MLS can give Vancouver a momentum boost. I'm least hopeful for Montreal right now, they are really in a sucky mood at the moment.

Our esteemed moderator is under the impression that having an MLS team is detrimental to the progress of a country's national soccer team. No doubt the basis for the belief is how poorly the US national team has done since the MLS started play. ;)

I'm sorry I know this is a serious comment, but I was chuckling when I read it because of the imagery it created for me.

Anyhoo, I agree wholeheartedly. I'll support the Toronto Blizzard-Black Squirrels as best I can (maybe a game or two per season in person) and I'll do the same for Vancouver (maybe more because I'm geographically closer) and Montreal once Saputo quits sulking.

I totally plan on being at the home opener for Toronto MLS and hope to meet some of the regulars here and at the V's board. Willing to take the van and pick up passengers along the way. :)

I'm thrilled to bits. AFAIC, this is the best thing that could possibly have happened.

In fact, it is so wonderful, I've reopened this thread though, in all honesty, I'm not really sure why.

To quote our friend Luis, "this is a great day for Canadian soccer!"

I should add that IMO, DG did not act as a moderator should in this instance. While we may personally dislike a particular line of discussion, that should not cause a mod to lose his/her ability to moderate in an objective way.

I've certainly objected to some of these threads but I'm not going to shut any of them down in a fit of pique.

While this thread should probably never have been started in the first place and yes, has not been constructive, it only developed this way due to the attitude of the lead post.

This thread will whither on its own. As long as it doesn't go entirely "evil" and completely "mean-spirited", it should be allowed to find its own way.

If you guys choose to let it die, it wil die of its own accord.

All the best,

Blizzard (the mod)
