I also think it's suppose to have field turf.

Seriously, did the value of the canadian dollar drop by 50% overnight or something?

Rugby Canada says it will likely not stage internationals in the Toronto area because leading rugby teams won't play on an artificial surface.
Better than nothing though.

I'm hoping he meant that now, with the new stadium, there will be a grass field to play rugby on, whereas before there was only the rogers centre which is artificial. Am i reading that right?

No, the new stadium is designed to have field turf in order to allow for winter use.

Well, it does look a bit better than the Raging Rhinos new stadium.

Speaking from experience running around on the field turf in Giants Stadium, I pity the poor team that is stuck running around on that crap in Toronto. (It is going to be hell on their knees.) Still, I suppose there are no other options in a country which has two seasons: Winter and July. ;)

This country is raher large to have the same "seasons" throughout.

If other possible investors new they could get into the league with stadiums like that........They are a G-8 country right?

In US dollar terms, it's $53 million. Bridgeview is about $90 million. Pizza Hut Park is around that territory also.
But you want to hear the good thing about this stadium?
For the first time, a MLS team will move into a stadium built specfically for it in its first season.
If this is the STadium for the Metrostars in 1996, you would all take it in a heartbeat.
If this is a stadium for SJ or KC, or NE TODAY, you would take it in a heartbeat.

Actually the G-8 country with one of the most robust economies right now.
Seems typically Canadian; somewhat understated (excepting a few posters from the GWN). :D
Edit: sorry GWN = Great White North

WOW that NAFTA seems to be going well for you all....or lack of wars or natural disasters.

Yeah, it's all in good fun! I was against going up north but I've come around. Glad that the league is expanding. Here's to hoping the US league gets Canada to South Africa in 2010!!! :)

That stadium is just hideous.. Perhaps they should just build one nice stand on either side of the pitch, and in the future build other stands along the other side and the touch line.
Anything but that thing.

MLS' original plans when the league was being conceived in the early 90's was to build a bunch of Columbus crew type stadiums for like 30-40 million a piece but that never got off the ground. Does it really cost that much more to make it look decent? At least have some sort of style to it. That stadium just looks like a high school football stadium. I wouldnt put too much into that design as I remember many of the other SSS original plans changing as time went on.

I think you're being a bit rough on it.
MLS already has a stadium quite a bit like it in Columbus:

Well, the Canada smacks had to start sooner or later. ;) Still, I'd like to thank you Canucks for Tricia Helfer. Without her, I don't think my little brother would ever have made it through puberty.

Ya that looks U G L Y
Why not go with a EPL type of stadium since the stadium funds is limited to about 50million??
Maybe its the rendering thats really bad. Hopefully its not the official one.
