It's hard to say right now IMO. He had a horrible game today, but was quite solid vs Everton. He's only 21, and if he can get his mental game together, he could make for an imposing defender. I think if he can get loaned to Villa and get some more playing time, he might be able to improve his game significantly.

I agree, clumsy is the right word for his latest performances.
As soon as Huth plays more regularly, I can see him improve a lot. He’s got the figur for a decent centre back, is robust and uncompromising. His hard shot may count as an offensive quality.
But at the moment, he’s not good enough to play for the national team. He’s unconfident, unexperienced, too slow, and only passes the ball to his fellow defenders. In my opinion Klinsmann has to find his defensive formation as soon as possible so these players can get used to each other. I doubt if Huth will be more than a substitute.

I think he really should go to germany ...cause he would be closer to the NT here and if he picks the right team he may could improve alongside an NT defender , and I think he needs someone like Kohler , who guided Metze

Agree. I believe Huth just needs playing time and good guidance. A place where the pressure isn't so great and where he can make a few mistakes and not be banished to the bench for it.
Nuernberg comes to mind. He'd move right into the starting lineup and they have a trainer who knows how to teach players. He'd also have the leeway to make mistakes and learn.
Not saying FCN is the "only" place. It just came to mind with me this moment.

I said it some weeks ago: Huth will never become a great player. His technique and agility are just too limited. Not being fast over the first 5 metres doesn't help either.

Huth is a good player. I hope we loan him out, because he does need experience. I'm not too upset with him for the Charlton game - he's 21. All young players have bad games. He did look quite good against Everton.

Huth is not as terrible as people might think or as his performances show. he doesn't get enough playing time at Chelsea, therefore he won't develop there....priority for him should be to get the hell out of London as fast as possible, anywhere where he will start would be a better choice. I think his mentality is to stay at Chelsea because of the success the team is bringing in, but that really doesn't benefit him as a player and I honestly don't think he'll get a chance under Mourinho in a looong long time.
He took the penalty against Charlton because he was the best PK taker in the team in training, so it was justified, just a shame that he missed it really.
He has the potential, he has shown that, there are many areas he can improve on tremendously but he isn't getting that at Chelsea it seems to me.....I think it is vital for something to happen in January for Huth.

i'd love to take him, even for a half season loan ;)

How hard is it to look good against Everton?? ;)

He was facing James Beattie and Duncan Ferguson, both really good (well maybe not Beattie) target man, and he was not bad...but not good either.
Right now, Huth is not good enough even to play in the Premiership. He would be a good Championship defender. The only thing that is going for him right now is his size. But he is young and he will become better.

I don't quite agree. We don't know what will happen with this kid in the future. I think it's still too early to write him off, but I do agree that he probably won't become great if he stays at Chelsea.
As far as Huth's speed goes, I loved Juergen Kohler and Christian Woerns, but I don't recall either one of them being particularly fast in their first steps either.
I don't think it's too late for Huth, but I do agree that he needs to make a move.
I know he's having fun and getting paid well in London. Right now, that's important to him. Maybe he needs someone to make him realize that in a few years, his "legacy" as a player will be important to him and it may be too late for him to refine the good basic skills he does have.........

Duncan Ferguson "Really Good"?? You been drinking already man?? Duncan Ferguson hasn't been "really good" for about five years now and he wasn't truly "really good" then. He's going to be the next guy to make a living off his reputation as a "hard man" than anything he's ever done in football.
For reference see "Jones, Vinnie".........
Then again, maybe not. Vinnie Jones is smarter than Duncan Ferguson ever will be. Jones is "hard" and smart. Ferguson is "hard" and has the brains of a brick.
Beattie? Potential. Slowly ooozing away..........

He won't become better if he doesn't go somewhere to get regular playing time. If the does soon, then he has a chance. But I agree with you overall. Huth is severely overrated right now in my mind.

I didn't say he was a really good player...I said he was a really good TARGET MAN and can still head the ball better than 99% of players out there. Huth did a really good job containing him, but was often suspect on the ground (which is always him)

The way we are playing..probably :D
We'll come back though. van der Meyde and Kroldrup and Li Tie are coming back. They'll give us more steel. But if we can get Robbie Keane in the transfer day, we'll be really good (theoretically).

Oh. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought "Target Man" suggested one you look to for goals or good action, not someone whose head to bounce the ball off of.
But I think I know what you mean. Just like BVB used Koller way too much in my opinion. The play would to through him and it was his job to keep the attack flowing.
I hate that s#it. You essentially lower that striker's goal-scoring effectiveness. Koller shouldn't have been keeping the attack flowing, he should have been at the end finishing it!
I watched this crap for four years in Dortmund.
People are impressed with Koller's goal-scoring record, but he should have had much more........

It's ok. I agree on Koller. He is a far better player than Duncan Ferguson, faster, taller, better dribbler, better passer and A FAR BETTER team player and kept his cool. He should do better than what he is doing now. With all the playmakers and crossers on Hertha (Marcelinho, Basturk, Friedrich, Gilberto and now Cairo), I could just see him heading in 10-15 goals, and that would be perfect for us, if he signed for us, which I hoped he would do in the summer (although realistically, that was probably not in the cards ever)

Koller would score more than 10-15 goals a year at Hertha if they utilize him smarter than BVB has........
However, I think you can forget the fantasy of Koller suiting up for Hertha.
I'm almost certain he's leaving Germany for the riches of the Premiership.
And if he does decide to stay in Germany, I think there are only two clubs who can land him.
Bayern and Bremen.
He's promised BVB fans and management he will not sign with Scheisse 0-6 :) and I believe he will keep that promise.
I think Koller will openly campaign for a job with Manchester United, Arsenal or Newcastle........
And to keep this on-topic, I'd love to see Huth battle Koller in England! LOL!!! ;)
