I thought I would start this early to give us 2 months of silly fun.

Number 1

Am I right in thinking he used to play for us?

I think he was at snots but released, had trials with us but was released by us.

Great fun transfer talk. RB Glen (sniffer) Johnson, the boy had enormous ability but has gone bad at Chelski.

Possible midfield signing Defensive Mid

Striker with Norwich going very average Ashton would be my choice.

Hartson worries me for 5mill. 2 mill down maximum and a further million a season if he scores over 20 goals 3 years running.

From tody's BBC rumors.

West Ham will move for John Hartson and Glen Johnson in the January transfer window. (Daily Express)

I think Boldwitch is a dodgy buy... in fact anyhting from Harlow is a dodgy buy (and I should know I grew up there). If we wait 6 months we'll probably be able to get him for a fifth of the price at a car-boot sale (that's the way we bought everything in Harlow).

Were they the ones that used to be held down Edinburgh Way.

Mark - I know that we can watch the Liverpool game from the comfort of our respective couches, but I'm thinking of heading down to Scallywags for any banter that might be on the go. Interested?

I hope that we get John Hartson, assuming he's 100% fit; if he was playing for us now, I really believe we'd have won at least a couple more games. He's a terrific striker, and seems to have calmed down since he last played for us.
I know he had a bad temper at the time he kicked Berkovic in the head, but that was a long time ago! He scores goals, and that's what we need.
I'm not so sure about Glen Johnson; The Chelsea manager obviously isn't impressed with him, and he might have an attitude problem; I think he went too far too fast, and needs some maturity.
However, Pardew seems to have good sense when it comes to picking good players for the Hammers, so let's hope he keeps it up.

From the fans forum Pardew is looking at 3 players. He has between 5-6 million to spend. Think this means Bowditch, Johnson and possible the Stoke guy. Think i would like a top line striker but unless Brown makes a bit more money available can't see it.

we need a better holding midfielder. while mullins has looked good at times, with yossi, ethers and reo-coker all bombing forward on regular basis, mullins often gets pulled out of the middle leaving the back line exposed. he may become the dogs-bollox but I don't think we have the luxury of letting him learn on the job. A good holding midfielder will allow ethers, reo-coker and yossi to push forward more, and they all have goals in them, which will alleviate the burden of scoring on the forwards. My problem is if mullins is plan A what's plan B... Dailly? I'm not sure who's available or who may be able to do the job better, but I think opposition teams will begin to exploit this weakness in the team (see Liverpool last week).

Holding midfielder eh? Well we were linked with Senegalese international Amdy Faye from New Castle in today's papers.

I haven't seen that much of Faye. He looks a fit, athletic player, the type Pards likes. A midfielder with 3 goals in 176 career games... I would hope he is a decent holding midfielder because he sure isn't adding much else. Mullins doesn't read the game well enough for me at this stage in his career. Would Faye be an improvement on this? Are we still in for a striker? I saw Adebayor play on the weekend (as a sub) and he didn't exactly light up the pitch.

We're getting Benni McCarthy in January, I'd also like to see us get Glenn Johnson back, even if it's on loan, I hate to see a player of his ability rotting in the stiffs at Chelsea.

Those two should give us what we're missing without breaking the bank.

Has the BM deal been finalised then Rob? I haven't seen anything about that.
