Deportivo La Coruņa 3-1 Real Madrid
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/report?id=190181&cc=5901
LA CORUNA, October 26 (Primera Liga) - Real Madrid suffered their second defeat in four days as they slipped up against Deportivo La Coruna.
A goal from Julian De Guzman and two from Juanma put Deportivo in charge with Raul's late goal a mere consolation for Madrid.
The visitors were never in it against a physical Deportivo who took the game from them from the very first moment and made them look second best in everything.
The defeat highlights that Madrid have a different side without injured striker Ronaldo and Julio Cesar Baptista, and shows their lack of strength in depth despite spending $54million this summer.
It was also a night to forget for David Beckham who was substituted after just 53 minutes.
With Beckham able to play after having the red card he saw against Valencia lifted, Carlos Diogo remained right-back for Madrid.
However Madrid coach Wanderley Luxemburgo elected to push Ivan Helguera into midfield and bring Jonathan Woodgate into the side.
Deportivo kept the pace high from the start shutting Madrid out of the game.
Helguera was struggling away from his usual position in defence, while Guti lacked the time he preferred to direct his side's play.
Diego Tristan went close in the opening minutes while Sergio Ramos was forced to clear under pressure just afterwards and Juan Carlos Valeron also sent a shot wide.
Robinho created a rare chance for Madrid with a run down the left on 25 minutes, but his shot was blocked by Fabricio Coloccini, who then headed just wide at the other end.
Beckham saw a chance denied when the assistant referee flagged him back for handball.
It looked accidental, but Beckham controlled himself and just smiled at the official.
De Guzman, who was excellent all night, gave Deportivo the lead after 35 minutes, beating Iker Casillis with a well placed shot from just outside of the area.
The home side were not giving Madrid a look in, with winger Pedro Munitis doing all he could to torment his former club.
In injury time, he worked a short corner with Valeron, before curling over a left foot cross for Juanma to double Deportivo's advantage with a powerful header from inside the six yard box.
Injuries had left Madrid with a substitutes bench filled with B team players, giving Luxemburgo few options to turn things around.
However after 53 minutes and with his side still struggling to make an impact, Luxemburgo replaced Beckham with winger Javier Balboa.
Madrid had made a big effort to ensure Beckham was available for the match, but that did not stop him being the first change of the night.
The change altered nothing and Madrid grew increasingly frustrated at their inability to get into the match.
That led to mistakes and Valeron should have made it 3-0 after the poor clearance from Casillas while Roberto Carlos was booked for dissent.
It says much that defender Ramos caused Deportivo more problems than anybody as he surged forward on a pair of occasions.
Juanma scored his second of the night to make it 3-0 after 84 minutes, heading a Valeron corner home at the near post and a minute later Raul salvaged some honour for Madrid, scoring with a dipping shot from outside of the penalty area.

4 days later his brother scores his first pro goal for Feyenoord!
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/report?id=190195&cc=5901
TILBURG, October 30 (Eredivisie) - Feyenoord claimed a valuable win over struggling Willem II to move a point behind league leaders PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie.
Jonathan De Guzman opened the scoring early on for the visitors, which was doubled by Romeo Castelen soon after.
Patrick Paauwe added the third for Feyenoord before substitute Hans Denissen scored a last-minute goal for Willem II.
The hosts had an early opportunity to score when Moussa Dembele struck a free-kick from the edge of the area, but it was well saved by Patrick Lodewijks in the Feyenoord goal.
The team from Rotterdam quickly fashioned themselves an opportunity but Castelen carelessly blazed his effort over the target.
De Guzman, however, spared his strike partner's blushes when he put his side ahead after the eighth minute with a close range shot.
Castelen, then, found himself on the scoresheet when he doubled his side's advantage with an easy side foot shot into goal.
Zsombor Kerekes was replaced early in the second by Kevin Bobson but his introduction failed to breathe life into his listless Willem II team-mates.
Feyenoord further extended their advantage just after the hour mark when Paauwe hit a powerful 20-yard effort past Willem II's Peter Zois.
Indeed it was this final goal that prompted Willem to introduce Denissen into the game as a replacement for Anouar Hadouir.
Denissen was rewarded for his endeavour and attitude when he headed in from close range in the 90th minute to try and put some respectability to the scoreline.
The result leaves Willem second from bottom and level on points with ADO Den Haag, while Feyenoord are level on points with second place AZ Alkmaar.

He will not be playing tomorrow against Luxembourg. Yallop wants to give everyone a look, and De Guzman played in the last friendly against Spain.

Julian started and went 90 minutes for Deportivo yesterday against Villarreal in a 1-1 road draw. It was his 12th start of the season and he also has 5 sub appearances. Deportivo remain in 7th, 1 point ahead of Villarreal and are nipping at the heels of Celta and Sevilla for a UEFA Cup spot.

He went 90 in his 13th start of the season. Wasn't called upon to do too much, played a few good balls into the area and marked adequately..0-0 draw with neither team pushing the action much. The draw leaves Depor still 2 points behind Sevilla, they had their chance today to leapfrog them and wasted it. This team is irritating to watch, something about their negative tactics

Julian had another start this past weekend on the road at Cadiz. He was ejected on his second bookable offence in the 70th minute with Depor ahead 1-0. Cadiz came back to level the game 1-1 :(
