Not the brightest of things to say.

Henke's such a sh!thead.

Damn, Altintop, Sforza and now even the damn coach. This team does have issues, too bad this overshadows an entertaining match yesterday.

East - West tensions still that high? I guess I should keep up with current events in my many-generations-removed Fatherland. "Bloody Easterners" is worth €10,000! What is the context here? I'm honestly curious.

The "East German" is still looked down upon by the "Wessis" or "West German". Of course, that's unless they are a football star, Olympic Gold Medalist or tennis or boxing champion of some sort.......

Many "West Germans" blame the reunification of Germany for the current economic problems.

Having lived in "West Germany" before and after the reunification, I can't really disagree with that assessment, but I don't feel the "West Germans" should be blaming the "East German people" for their problems.

In my opinion, they can blame one man. Helmut Kohl.

I think it was completely stupid for "West Germany" to absorb "East Germany" as quickly as it occurred and it was even DUMBER exchange the worthless "East German" currency to the then strong German Mark 1 to 1. To this day, I believe Kohl was more concerned with his legacy and being remembered as the man who reunified Germany, more than he was concerned about the stupidity of his reunification plan.

So, just like many Americans harbor "silent resentment" toward immigrants and poor people for being a "burden on the system", many native "West Germans" harbor that type of resentment toward "East Germans".

Henke got so angry, he let it all hang out...........

Yes, just like the "Negro" is still looked down upon by the "WASPs" or "White Americans".

You make some valid points, but I'd prefer it if you were a bit more subtle. Or is this what your friends in Munich/Dortmund/Hamburg/etc. have told you? :)

This is just frustration setting in with the coach. He will pay his fine and move on and peolpe will forget about this in a couple days. This is a non-issue.

Very true. Are you expecting me to deny that?

No, it's what I experienced LIVING THERE at the time. I thought I made that part clear???

Then again, it all depends if you think you're being funny......

Yes it wasn't very funny... sorry about being flippant. What I meant is that these sweeping generalisations are not always very good. 'The East German', 'The West German'... a blanket statement like the one you made is never true. But I guess that didn't really come across in my post.

You are right. I was in a hurry when I typed those comments and I did generalize.

I should have used the words "quite a few" before "West Germans". It isn't everyone. But I do believe that sentiment is still prevelant........
