Just saw Convey might not be a no show on YA.
The european roster pool is shrinking.

we need to find out who is in MLS Cup before anything else.
I'm guessing Convey will be there along with Marcus.
this shoudl be a fairly strong side.
GK - Keller, Hahneman
RB - Dolo, Hejduk
LB - Lewis, Spector
CD - oca, Berhalter, Gooch
CM - uhhhh..no Reyna or JOB. Armas, Mastro, Clark, and Dempsey look like the choices. whichever two are availible. Unless he calls up Ramiro Corralas.
AM - Convey, Beasley, Either Quaranta or Mapp, either Ralston or Gaven. or Donovan
FW - McBride, possibly Twellman or Ching, Josh Wolff.

Somebody fill me in: is JOB still injured, and if so, what's his estimated recovery time?

I wouldn't be surprised if Zak Whitbread gets a look for this one. Also Chad Marshall shouldn't be too busy.

Maybe not to cap him but Heath Pearce should be at least called in to camp so Bruce can get a look at him.
The guy is coming up on being a pro for a calendar year now, and has been a starter since he got to Denmark. Last year, he helped his team avoid relegation and this year they are in fourth place. Bruce says he wants players used to winning and Pearce is on a winning team right now. And, of course, he's a left back who actually plays left back for his club.
There is nothing to lose here. Let him train with the guys for a week and see how it goes. If he isn't ready, fine, send him back to Hamlet-ville and look at him again after Germany.
But maybe, just maybe, he'll show well enough to warrant a look in a game or two to see if he can handle LB well enough to, at the very least, push Eddie Lewis.

Yes, but can he find his passport?

He's still injured. Apparently he is now able to run again ( ) but there is no expected recovery time:
"(O'Brien) started running today, so he's making progress" Den Haag press officer Tonny Dijkhuizen told YA on Monday afternoon. "We don't have a time schedule (for his return to first team training)."

the ever elusive Brian West, like Heath Pearce, plays a position far from set in stone, RM.
hopefully he's over whatever injury problems he'd had prior to the week before the match with scotland and is starting again with his club team.
other than West and/or Pearce, are there any euros getting minutes that we should take a look at? (please refrain from cooper, whitbread, & karby references).

I think we should take a look at Demerit. To be sure, I think we're quite deep at center back. And with Gooch, Gibbs, Boca, Pope, Marshall, Berhalter and Spector all in the mix for Germany, I can't see Demerit making the '06 roster. But I would think Bruce should at least take a look at him, given that he started and by all reports played quite well last season in the Coca Cola Championship.

with that in mind, Simek would be just as deserving, he's played lots recently. I'd guess no to both though, as you mentioned, we're deep at center back.

I just don't think Bruce will or should be looking at anyone who's not a serious contender for a place next year.
Younger products can be dealt with come the spring/summer of 2007 when we get back into some friendlies, probably most of them within CONCACAF.

I just don't think Bruce will or should be looking at anyone who's not a serious contender for a place next year. What exactly is the harm in bringing in some of those young players like Pearce, Simek, etc? 11 guys start the game against Scotland so there will be 7 guys called in for training to show what they've got in front of Bruce for a few days. No harm in that, hell, they may just impress so much that they make the 2006 WC roster.

It's still early. WCQ is over, and we move on to the next phase: player selection. Of course what happened during qualifying is important, but Bruce must also consider some new players and/or players that improve between now and, say, March.

nov 12th is an international fixture date...
anbd according to arena there is ONLY one fixture date in 2006...
so I suspect ANY healthy euro based player who has participated in any match during 2005, would be likely to get a call for nov 12...
I thibnk it'll be as close to th BEST available roster plus a couple euro newbies...
the west, pearce mentions might be possibles...

From Stephen Goff's online chat today:
Frederick, Md.: What will the team makeup be like for the friendly against Scotland? Mostly bubble Euro-based players, bubble MLS players (minus whoever is in the MLS Cup) or projected starters?
Steven Goff: Almost exclusively European players.

This match should be a good tip of Bruce's hand. If he takes only the same names we've all seen before (with the same MLS names to fill the obvious gaps), then the hope of new faces should be dashed.
From all reports, though, it looks like almost all Euros, which means there will have to be some good new faces just to fill some holes and make a good training roster. To me, that's pretty exciting.
p.s.-- I still think LanDo will make the trip if he's not playing the MLS final.
