the greatest inteview Romey-Rome ever did was his Jim Everett...when he kept calling him 'Chris Everett'....hilarious.

i actually saw that live on espn2 when it happened. i was cracking up. it was "nyah-nyah" journalism at its finest/worst.

the next day was hilarious on xtra690 where he had his radio show. EVERY talkshow host cracked on him that day. apparently he had stepped on a lot of people to get his own show, and that was the day the bills came due. of course he parlayed the notoriety to bigger things.

*ahem*

my bad.

it was early, I hadn't had coffee yet, yada yada....

I wake up on my stomach
With my face between my hands
And crawl along the floor toward the doorway
Jumping to my feet
I try to put myself together
But i feel it in my knees
And the room begins to spin
And i slip and bump my head and raise a welt
Split open and melt

- It seems odd to me that any athlete would have anything to do with Rome after that stunt. I guess it's kind of like rednecks being drawn to Jerry Springer...

- Give ND credit for doing one thing right this year: Capitalizing on their success and keeping their name in the press.

- Speaking of which I've got my bowl predictions lined up? How bout thee? Barring "miracle" ND will make the BCS and two teams will finish the season undefeated. And of all the coaches who would spoil Barry Alvarez's retirement year run to the Rose Bowl, who'd thunk it'd be Joe Pa?

- Is this the end of the Red Sox already? Not that losing Epstein is a death blow, but it's bad to endure turnover in the GM office heading into an offseason with so many ? in the clubhouse. Anyone placing bets on who'll play center field for the Yankees next year?

- Well, I've digested the committee's proposed changes to the tax code. That such work is the favored result of actual study makes some of the other pork spending projects appear a wise use of funds. Perhaps Mr. Boortz will be wrong in that this proposal will make the FairTax bill seem all the more appealing.

- North and South Korea will compete as one country again in the next Olympics. I see where this is going:
"Next on the rings, representing Europe..."

- Saw II. I liked the first one, but watching the previews I couldn't help but think "Ya know, The Cube was a bad movie the first time..."

Agreed. Just does when that contract with NBC expire?

Which BCS game would ND play in? As for the Rose Bowl, if Penn State does make it, and then win, does Joe Pa retire?

As a Yankee fan, I certainly hope so.

Anyone placing bets on who'll play center field for the Yankees next year?

Certainly not Johnny Damon. You, know, I'm not really sure about this one.

LOL!

Which national anthem will be played should a Korean win gold?

No interest. Saving my coin for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on IMAX!

Agreed. Just does when that contract with NBC expire? Not for another several years, and I suspect NBC will re-up.

Which BCS game would ND play in? As for the Rose Bowl, if Penn State does make it, and then win, does Joe Pa retire?Rose gets the BCS title game. Assuming USC and Texas are in, Fiesta would get the first choice among candidates as the SEC and ACC champs would be assigned to the Sugar and Orange respectively (unless the BCS heads invoke for the first time a rule where they can override the bowls and make the match-ups from their office.) Thus, I've got ND vs UCLA in the Fiesta.

Which national anthem will be played should a Korean win gold?Blame Canada?

No interest. Saving my coin for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on IMAX!They're doing an IMAX version of that movie? :o

Never done a Potter flick or novel. I am anxious to see the first Chronicles of Narnia, however.

Right you are about the Rose Bowl. Hmm, okay, so where does the Big 10 school go? As for ND v UCLA - that's one I'll watch.

Blame Canada?

They're not even a real country anyway.

They're doing an IMAX version of that movie?

Oh yeah!

Never done a Potter flick or novel.

I would I highly recommend them. Bready can attest to my membership in "Dumbledore's Army". Books 1 & 2 are rather simple, but from book 3 onward, the series is fantastic.

I am anxious to see the first Chronicles of Narnia, however.

Me too! I think that'll be the movie the whole family goes to see during the holidays.

I don't think the Big Ten champ would be assigned, and therefore becomes one of the four teams to be plucked by the bowls in order of selection. Then, according to the official BCS site (http://www.bcsfootball.org/index2.cfm?page=eligibility) here is the selection order for this year. For the bowls not hosting the national championship game this season, the following selection priority will apply if necessary:

1. FedEx Orange Bowl
2. Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
3. Nokia Sugar Bowl

As of this week, I've got it thusly:
Rose: USC vs Texas
Orange: VT vs PSU
Fiesta: ND vs UCLA
Sugar: Alabama vs WVU

No offense feej but UCLA have to be the luckiest and most overrated team of the year so far... they almost lost to both washington schools for crying out loud!

I can't imagine that after getting hammered by the trojans that they'll still be in contention for a bcs bowl.

i tend to think alabama's the most overrated team of the year...

but you might be surprised come dec. 3rd. we played them hard last year, held leinart to no tds and may have had a 4th quarter lead had they not had the benefit of a questionable non-call on a bush fumble that was returned for a TD.

of course all this is moot if our luck doesnt hold...but hey, the program's due for a change of luck :D

Maybe.. but you've given up 27.5 pts per game against a schedule that only includes one ranked appointent so far (Cal at 23rd). Not a good numbers to have before going against USC.

Alabama is giving up 9 points a game for the record.. it's hard to overrate that.

Just got back from London, traveled for about 18 hours today and i'm exhausted. Got no sleep on the plane, just nursed my hangover from staying out until 2 after the CL game. It was a great trip, but i'm happy to finally be home.
