This is much better for Wolfsburg, i think this thread maywell get more attention than the sub-forum.
With a few minutes left, Wolfsburg are on the verge of a big win as they lead 1-0 IN Bremen in the Pokal thanks to Steve Marlet.

Amazing, Marlet equalizes in the 120th minute! 2-2 and it's on to penalties!

Today, someone at VfL Wolfsburg woke up and finally smelled the coffee.
They finally got their heads out of their asses and fired both trainer Holger "Clueless A$$hole" Fach and General Manager Thomas "I Was So Clueless, I Lost My Wife To Effejerk" Strunz.
Haven't seen any speculation on who their new trainer might be, but if I were them, I'd go after Ralf Rangnick or Klaus Augenthaler.
This Wolfsburg team is very talented, but they need some competent leadership.......

My remarks from another thread:
"Amen. The timing could not have been better. This means that someone with half a brain (hopefully) will have a say in how to spend the Petrov money. I am just amazed that Wolfsburg thought that Strunz and Fach were remotely competent in the first instance. The sad thing (actually, a sad thing, because there are many sad things relative to this) is that Wolfsburg ran off Pander and some very good coaches (Wolf, Roeber, Gerets) to get the dipsh_t duo of Strunz and Fach."
Wolfsburg has some talent, certainly better than 13th place talent, but they are not among the top 6 in the league. So a new coach is only going to be able to do so much. To me, it is more important that they hire a coach and GM on the same page who will use the Petrov money wisely. Rangnick would be a nice hire; Augenthaler might be a better choice, because I think he would impart some necessary heart and discipline on this team.

Good stuff man! However, I think Wolfsburg can get back into the top eight with the right coach.
You are also right about Auge probably putting heart and discipline into the team, but I can tell you from "almost personal experience" that Auge is about as big an a$$hole as Fach was and while he's successful at first, he wears on his team. Your Wolfsburg team is already worn down mentally from one a$$hole, I really don't know if they can handle another one. Rangnick, on the other hand, seems to be better at getting a team to believe in themselves again and to believe in his system. He's just not a master motivator, but with the talent that Wolfsburg team has, I think they just need confidence again. Either way, whomever they hire will be one of the most interesting stories of this winter break.

do you think Rangnick's sudden availability led to an earlier demise of Fach and Strunz?

No, I think they were doomed anyhow......

Agreed. Rangnick's availability is a happy coincidence. WOB had stopped playing for Fach, and he needed to go. It's not like he has a track record meritorious of more time. Losing to Kaiserslautern just sealed the deal. Strunz's firing was more of a surprise, but after he had inexplicably hired Fach after letting Gerets twist in the wind, I guess the club didn't want to trust him with hiring a new coach and reforming the team.

Kicker is reporting that Rangnick will become the new Wolfsburg coach. A good choice by WOB and makes up for the thoroughly inexplicable Fach hiring. This gives Rangnick a chance to assess the team in the second half of the season and begin molding it for a run next season at Europe.
