What is the point of the UEFA Cup?

UEFA Cup is for those teams which failed to participate in CL.
Although it is less popular, UEFA CUP is not bad...


isnt it just the teams that wernt good enough to make the champions league

I still think it is interesting, and an attractive goal for minor teams to show off. Obviously, it's peanuts for the strongest teams (1st and groups stage CL throwouts), but it makes all the difference to minor teams like Villarreal, Malaga, Rayo Vallecano or Alaves.
