Hey all, I play some indoor on the field turf that has the small rubber pellets underneath the fake grass. I see some people using regular cleats (might have been SGs, not sure) on this while others use turf shoes, which is best for the surface? I played in some adidas a3 f50s and rolled an ankle, but this could be completely unrelated.

I don't think SG boots are allowed on Field Turf anywhere, but FG & HG are usually not a problem. Some places will only let you wear a turf shoe or an indoor shoe, so it's best to check with the facility first.
I use the Puma King indoor, as well as the Puma King All Around, & I have never slipped in either. Granted, I play keeper, but the grip on both has always been top notch. Some of you young bucks may think the Kings are too heavy, but they work fine for me. ;)

Thanks for reply. After another search I did manage to find simliar question with answer. FG did seem to be the consenus for good field turf, then turf shoes for poorer quality/more carpet like material.

I have teammates that have worn sgs on turf, and they said it was fine. One player did break off his stud though. Personally I like fgs the most, they provide good grip, even when it is wet.

I bought the Puma King Allround Turfs this year (playing on Field Turf for the 1st time) and think they are fantastic. No problems with traction at all. I just saw a teammate blow his ankle wearing FG's. Scary!

how'd that happen? i mean we blow our ankles even when the condition is perfect. I dont think it was fg specific was it?

His cleats caught on his left foot and pretty much stopped his foot dead in it's tracks, it's only an assumption on my part but I don't think the same thing would happen with turf shoes.

It's hard to describe, but it happened right in front me and I'm convinced it was the cleats (copas btw). I'm convinced it wouldn't have happened with turf shoes.

The Kelme Master HFTs are specifically designed for Field Turf:

If you're not interested in these regular turf cleats are your best bet. The field turf damages FG and HG cleats really easily. The leather tends to tear away from the sole. So just stick with HFTs or Turfs.
