Pardew close to record Hammers deal Mon, Oct 17 2005 14:09
"Alan Pardew is on the verge of securing a new long-term contract which could see him become West Ham's all-time highest paid manager.
Pardew is hoping to have the deal completed by the time the Hammers face Middlesbrough at Upton Park next Sunday afternoon.
The Hammers board have been having talks with Pardew for the past few months about a new £1million-a-year deal as reward for leading the club back into the Premiership.
And the club's impressive start to the new season, which has yielded three wins and three draws from eight games, has reaffirmed he is the man to keep them in the top flight.
The former Reading boss, who is in his second full season at charge at the club, has the full backing of the players who have also been pledging their futures to the club.
Nigel Reo-Coker and Hayden Mullins have both agreed extended deals in the past couple of weeks in a clear sign that things are on the up in the East End.
Pardew said: "There have been some discussions regarding a new contract. I love it here at West Ham and have no intention of managing any other club, so I hope it can be sorted out quickly."
