Thought I'd start a thread about a good band, since there's threads about the Beatles and Led Zeppelin.

I'll start;

Coming Back to Life and Wish you were Here

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Pink Floyd will release the long-awaited DVD for its concert film "Pulse" in Europe on December 5, and in North America the following day.

The project -- handled by EMI in Europe and Columbia Stateside -- was originally released on VHS in 1995 in conjunction with a double-disc CD set of the same name. The film chronicles the band's 1994 tour in support of the album "The Division Bell," which turned out to be its last.

The video was taped during a 14-night run at London's Earl's Court and is highlighted by the first complete performance of the 1973 album "Dark Side of the Moon," which can be found on the second disc. The first disc of the DVD features a blend of older hits ("Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2," "Learning To Fly") and material from "The Division Bell" ("Keep Talking," "Take It Back").

Among the bonus features are the back-screen stage projections for such songs as "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," "High Hopes" and the majority of the "Dark Side of the Moon" material, plus videos for "Learning To Fly" and "Take It Back."

Bonus performances of four "Division Bell" songs are included in the feature "Bootlegging the Bootleggers," while the documentary "Goodbye to Life As We Know It" offers previously unseen off-stage footage of Pink Floyd on the road.

Us and Them. Reminds me of sitting in my room as a teenager with the black light on and staring at my hand. ;)

Comfortably Numb. In the dark, on headphones, cranked up.

After that, well...

Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Sorrow
Mother

Wow...these songs rolling through my head. Reminds me of being a preteen and teenager and thinking I was filled with angst. Too many to pick.

"Us and Them" and "Time" are no-brainers. "Wish You Were Here", despite being insanely overplayed, still is quite beautiful, and I love the twin shot of "One of My Turns" and "Don't Leave Me Now" on The Wall.

If I had to pick a favorite, though, it would be "Nobody Home".

My favorites are all pretty much already noted. My most favorite is Fearless (maybe because I like to hike the many mountains in the Salt Lake area)

A rather obscure song from their early singles I enjoy is

It Would Be So Nice.

(a rather quirky Richard Wright song.)

"Have you ever read the Daily Standard?
Reading all about the plane that's landed
Upside down?"

personally, Waters(who is pink floyd) not being part of that album made PF sound more like just songs and no theme- best song of that album was High Hopes and Coming back to life- I do feel that Gilmour's voice was never better in that album....

my favorite Pink Floyd song is from the Wall live in 1981: Empty Spaces-What Shall We Do Now?

All of my favorite Pink Floyd songs were by Gilmour, probably why I like the Division Bell so much.

you know, i'm not picking on you, and i'm not saying that this is your claim, but sometimes i really get sick of hearing people say that roger waters WAS pink floyd. don't get me wrong, i love the guy, and he wrote some quality, and truly moving lyrics. however, he was/is a giant prick and this notion that the other members did little on the albums is only somewhat true because roger wouldn't let them.
true, the two albums after roger left lack a basic and defined theme, and the lyrics aren't of the same mold, but the music composition and melodic tendencies are some of the best in the band's entire portfolio. this was dave's specialty anyway... his genius on the guitar.

that said, picking one favorite is like picking which child to save. it's impossible. i'll at least narrow it down to a few:

mother
coming back to life
one of these days
shine on you crazy diamond
time

you know, i'm just gonna stop there. those aren't in any order, and there's at least 10 more that deserve to be on that list, but i'm just gonna call it a day.

free tip of the day: for you roger waters lovers out there, he wrote the majority of the soundtrack to an animated movie entitled "when the wind blows." if you're lucky enough to get your hands on any of this music (it's rare), make sure you find your way to one specific track. it's called 'folded flags,' and it's simply one of the best pieces of music he's ever written.
