Well I was going to go into a lot of detail, but this is pretty self-explanatory. Bloom is a tree impersonator who ruins Elizabethtown. Jake Gyllenhaal, the wuss boyfriend in Proof, is next going to try to convince us he's a Marine. Brad Pitt had the whip cracked by Angelina Jolie. Tom Cruise spent the summer running from aliens. The Island, the only hyper-masculine Michael Bayt entry this summer, flopped despite Scarlett Johnansson looking really, really great in it. Only Viggo Mortensen and Daniel Craig in Layer Cake have come close to leading men performances this year. Meanwhile, there have been so many good to great female lead performances this year that it's hard to count. What is the sociological significance of this trend and is the future just more and more Jake Gyllenhaals? Discuss.

It's the new kinder, more sensitive Hollywood. What that town needs is Charles Bronson kidney punching people until they piss blood.

I remember when that story was published in The New Yorker (I'm apparently not the only one). No single story or poem in the past decade has provoked as much discussion among NYer readers as that one.

Clive Owen is pretty good. And don't sleep on Gyllenhaal, he can be really good, just check out Donnie Darko.

I don't think I have to be asking for a Death Wish remake to be in favor of not having to sit there while Gyllenhaal keeps telling the clearly apesh!t Gwyneth Paltrow that she's just hunky-dory. Sack up, man.

Hollywood's "leading man" role is tailor-made for......(drum roll....) WOMEN.

Whatever women like to see is what Hollywood will show as the leading man.

If you're a man complaining that there aren't enough manly men on-screen... well....

Yea, him and Dakota Fanning will end up banging each other on the silver screen in due time.

The possible reason to see Donnie Darko is Jena Malone.

Was it Lewis Black that called Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth Hollywood's new Most Influential Lesbian Couple?

Man....I usually like British actors but Orlando Bloom could not be more hollywood fancy boy.....

Plus, he's annoying as hell in a lead...keep him as a supporting actor if anything.
