Dude, this is Toronto, not Montreal (or anywhere else in Quebec for that matter). What's with all the French spellings?

Actually, I like Maple Leafs AC, FC, SC, etc.. Why make up a name when it's already the Maple Leafs? So what if the soccer team already uses that?

This may be the most statistically irrelevant poll in the history of BigSoccer.
And, since we're still suggesting mnames that didn't make the list, how about Toronto New York Wannabes?

Ugh. Another multiple ZZZZZZZZZ name! Horrific!
And I do realize thats the proper spelling of "blizzard", but thats just an awful name. But hey its the TO folks' club so I really don't have much say.

What happened to my 'Toronto Blues'?
Inter Toronto sounds good.

I think that Inter Toronto and Toronto International FC should be combined. Inter Toronto is short for "International FC Toronto" and the latter will end up being called Inter Toronto as well, so to me they are one and the same.

Hey i'm from Toronto and I don't like Blizzard either. The current poll shows alot of support for both Toronto International and Inter Toronto (International FC Toronto), which are essentially the same name .

to re-state the disclaimer, no I have nothing to do with Toronto or Canada, doing a list of names for expansion teams has become sort of a bit for us. SO here is the latest.

Actually, unless the RCMP have changed their attitude since the NBA's expansion into Canadian cities, Mounties is a non-starter. The RCMP own the rights to the name "Mounties" in Canada and would most likely be unwilling to license it to any future professional sports team without securing a significant share of revenues generated by a team's use of the identity.
In fact, unlerss I'm mistaken, Vancouver Mounties was bandied about as a candidate for the identity of the British Columbia-based NBA expansion franchise... and was abandoned as a result of the very issues I outlined above.

It might help if the names on there actually reflected ones that people in toronto would like to see. Toronto Maroons? Toronto Loons? How did you come up with your list? Try adding some of the popular ones on here otherwise your list doesnt look very serious.

Awesome names. We need to create one final poll and include those. Rangers has a cool sound, and Mounties is so identifiable. I like the idea of throwing York in there somewhere. Great ideas.

I'm pretty sure the RCMP sold the rights to the "Mounties" name and image to the Disney Corp a few years back, but I don't know how long that deal lasts.
