I wish he'd go back to Japan and manage. Once his run at Arsenal is over I think he'll become a national team manager of some African country or something.

He's like a rich man's version of Phillipe Troussier.

Domenech has a point here:

"The real problem, Domenech said, was that too much football was being played at club level.

'Some clubs play up to 75 games in a season,' he said.

'Sooner or later that will have to be stopped. The national teams are not responsible for this and nor are the clubs. We need to address the issue together and find a solution.' "

And yes....Wenger is a twat.

Ok, this is the start of the Frank Ribery on the National Team campaign. How this guy hans't been capped yet is amazing. It really shows the depth of how stupid Domenech really is.

I'd be all for it.
Bring him in!
Here's a good article about him:

Another one, less interesting, but in English:

He already looks good in blue (with the bleuets):

Just find that leg and you're good to go! ;)

Anelka gets called up....
What next, Robert Pires?

Football: Anelka revient en équipe de France (http://fr.sports.yahoo.com/03112005/1/football-anelka-revient-en-equipe-de-france.html)

It does seem like Pires wouldn't be as big of a surprise return now that Anelka has been called back. Maybe Domenech realized that Pires could be valuable to the team but wanted to used Anelka as a distraction so it wouldnt seem like a big deal if other "forgotten" players were called up.

Its an interesting line-up to say the least. No Zidane, Barthez is back (will he play or Coupet?) and now with Anelka making his first appearance in 3 years its almost surreal.

Well, except Domenech..

Actually, Domenech has already gone on record as stating tht he isn't considering Ribery UNTIL SUCH TIME that the Bleuets have finished their campaign with him.

He obviously considers that Ribery is more important to the youth team (in terms of the number of playmakers they have available) than to the senior side (Dhorasoo + Zidane i presume). Remember that he was a youth team coach so he must remember what its like to be robbed of being able to select an essential player because he was judged good enough for the senior team.

I think one also needs to bear in mind that Ribery has shown some temperamental lapses that may just not be acceptable on the national team level. I guess he's waiting for him to 'mature'

Actually both David Ginola and Vincent Candela are overdue for call ups... :p

Barthez is back (will he play or Coupet?).

I'm guessing that Barthez'll play Costa Rica and Coupet will play Germany. That's probably the plan, but if Barthez pulls off a monster game it might just throw a spanner in the works.

In any case both had less than stellar games in their last appearances (Coupet CL, Barthez - Ligue 1) so I'm not sure what difference it'd make.

Malouda, Govou, and Wiltord are all better in his position.

I dont agree about Malouda. Wiltord to me plays a different role, he's good at confusing defenses and has great speed by his passes arent as clinical nor his crosses. And Govou is good at creating but his finishing lets him down pretty often. I feel Pires performs well in the big games and has more international experience than than everyone except Wiltord.

I think Pires is still a very valuable asset for the squad in a tourney.

“The scars on [Ribéry's] face were not the biggest consequence of the [car] accident. The scars to his intelligence were more profound. Usually a footballer is capable of reading Paulo Coelho. He's not even capable of reading the Da Vinci Code!"

but if you didn't know, sacco is ridiculously pro-OM, so it's a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

We were posting about Ribery a day or two days before Domenech finally spoke out about him.

I now understand why he hasn't called him up.

BUT, on the other hand, Ribery will only be able to play ONE friendly(what's on the agenda so far) before the WC. In this sense, maybe he should be more cutthroat?

Oh, and Ribery's temper is a good and interesting point, because earlier this season in the exact same week for the Bleuets AND OM's uefa cup or Intertota cup match (2nd or 1st leg) v Deportivo La Coruna he was red carded for the exact same thing as well!

You know how he gets in someone's face after a crude tackle, that's what it was for. And, unfortunantly, it's not the first, well, second time it's happened just this season alone.

oh, so it was a car accident...i've been trying to stay polite and not ask what happened to him...ever since someone mistake cisse's hairdo for an infection i'm a bit cautious about these sort of things :p

The National Team has been sorely lacking the firea and competitive spirit a player like Ribery would bring.

Did Saccomano really say THAT ? If it's true, he must be fired at once. This is the must ugly thing I've heard since a long time.

Especially from someone working for RTL. Holly crap ! Since when do RTL journalists give lectures about intelligence ? It's like Bush talking about military honor, utterly ridiculous.
