Hmmm, well after Vieira and Maké ride into the sunset, Yoann Gourcuff could be captain, he's been captain on the U-x teams, after all. Also, he's the son of a manager (here in the States, often the "coach's boy" will be chosen as captain).
Oh yes, while on the topic, I think Gourcuff should be called up, but no hurry, the Malouda-Vieira-Maké-Ribery midfield is more than good enough.
Although Domenech picking the Diarras over Gourcuff? I certainly do question that.

Maybe Ray is letting us know in oh-so-subtle ways that he's still upset about the WC loss by ignoring all our Italy-based players. It sounds like something he'd do. :rolleyes:

Well Frey might as well be like Dhorasoo and film Euro 2008, since as it appears, he won't be challenging to start in net, even though I think, anyway, that in terms of ability, he'd be the best out of the 3. Of course, even in Espoirs, Domenech didn't see it that way, as Landreau was the starter about for 90% of their matches.
It'll be interesting to see what happens now that Juve are back in Serie A. Ray then can no longer use his "won't be called up since they're playing in Serie B" generic answer on Trez, though, to be fair, I don't think Zebina and Boumsong deserve call-ups.
To take a look ahead, even though it's early, I think we already know, to a cetain extent, what the list of 23 will be for the big game in September.
If Henry is healthy again, I would think Ray would drop Jimmy Briand, except if he's gotten off to a very hot start in L1 by then.
Vieira in the lineup would mean someone out of the 2 Diarras and Diaby would be either back in Espoirs or watch the match on TV. If it were up to me, I'd likely opt to drop Lassana, as why go with "le nouveau Maké" when the original version remains at a very high level?
If Willy is healthy, Sagna will likely be dropped, as it appears that in Ray's mind, Clerc is the backup.
Finally, if Domenech continues to ignore Mexčs, then I'll assume he's sticking with Thuram to pair with Gallas, which I hope he doesn't because if there's somebody who knows how to defend against Italian attackers, it's the blondie.
