Night Two - 10/17/05:
Night two in Philadelphia, and the energy level of the band was much higher than that of night one. However, I was still quite disappointed that, for the second night in a row, the only song played from Achtung Baby was “One.” I was also disappointed that after seeing four shows on this tour, I’d not gotten an “Original Of The Species” or “Bad.” You can imagine my reaction when I read the comments section of the setlist this morning! DAMMIT!!!!!
“Miss Sarajevo” was great both nights, but Bono really took it up another notch on Monday. Absolutely incredible. “People Get Ready” with Bruce Springsteen was the obvious highlight of the entire two night run, and the crowd reaction was priceless.
As an "old school" U2 fan, I would take 40 over anything from Actung Baby any show of the week......of course I have not wanted to see a U2 show since the Joshua Tree tour either.........
Having the crowd waiting for the Marta (our metro system) outside still singing 40 all the way out of the venue is one of the coolest concert experiences I have ever had.

Not this time. If someone was to give me tix, I would go. Don't really want to spend the money on them now......

2nd row for Achtung in the Georgia Dome. I appreciate their experimenting once in a while, as usually the alternative is growing stale. Haven't seen them otherwise. Parenthood has a way of cutting down the opportunities to escape for such adventures.
Goon morning, folks.

Love the avatar!!
Not too bad, actually. Just got back from the Electric City, visiting my family and a lot of northeastern rain. The baby did pretty well on the flights but it was the usual vacation-as-a-chore scenario, so getting back home and into our routines has been calming. Plus the fall weather rocks! We're spending more time dining outside and going for walks.
And for some reason everytime I go outside I hear marching band music and roaring crowds...! ;)

Well, having kids does require sacrifices. keeping the kids entertained with trips to the park, planetarium, etc. Temporarily leaving a party to put the kids in bed on time. Opting for McDonalds instead of a nicer restaurant. And of course having a baby/toddler means you've 1-2 extra items in tow: Diaper bag, stroller, playpen, etc. Getting through security at Hartsfield International I'm sure we looked like a Steve Martin movie brought to life: Hurredly tossing shoes into the bins, trying fold up strollers while making sure ANYONE is watching the kids...
Don't get me wrong, though. It's worth it when you can put four generations of a family in one room, and thus far our daughter seems quite attune to learning about the family and family history.

How many times have we asked each other the following question...
"If you could be sure of CL success, would you give up the prem title?"
I'm starting to feel that this might be the reality this year and I still don't know how I feel about it.
Sorry, I know that was not really OT.

Go White Sox!
if the Red Sox can win the WS last year
if Chelsea can win the league for the first time since 1954
if Liverpool can come from 3-0 to win their first CL in 20ish years
if Phil Mickelson can win the Masters last year
if the White Sox can make it to their first world series in 26 years
then Arsenal can sure as hell win the CL

Dan did you see that the Live CD from the Wilco shows in April goes on sale in a few weeks. That should be a keeper.
