there is a decent Thai restaurant on Cockspur St between The Sports Cafe and Trafalgar Square on the south side of the street. Kinda pricey, but good food!
Cheers Dan. Will check it out if some WS coverage is needed.

welcome!
we got there early, like 8 PMish, didn't have to pay cover and it was empty. our group, like 27 Americans, owned the dance floor. when we left there was a bouncer and a line, but the place was empty! quite strange

musician playing in London on Nov 3....I haven't seen him but his demos sound good. a brief write up
"Impeccable classical guitar work sets the rhythm for González' intimate, hushed vocals. He'd fit right in with the current neu-folk folks as well as the regrettably departed parties of Nick Drake and Elliott Smith"

yeah, anyone know how far that ball went?
Supposedly 412 ft, but I have a feeling they ran out of tape if it only went that far.

It hit about 20 feet up on the glass wall above the train tracks. I think it was alot closer to 500 ft then 400.

had to be longer then that. That is probably how far the wall behind the seats is from home plate.

Well, it is half time, so here are a few pints to keep you primed for the second period. Remember though, no discussing the match!!

Bruce Shows U2 Who's Boss 2005-10-18 13:48:38
Bruce Springsteen got into the collaboration game last night, joining U2 onstage during its set at Philadelphia's Wachovia Center. Springsteen joined in during U2's first encore song, Curtis Mayfield's "People Get Ready." Bob Marley regularly merged this tune with his own, "One Love." Although opening act Julian and Stephen Marley were in the house, U2 failed to bring them onstage for their version of the hit.
U2's tour continues on October 19 at Washington, DC's MCI Center with the Marleys once again providing support
I think Mike was there....nice!

Night Two - 10/17/05:
Main Set: City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, Elevation, I Will Follow, The Electric Co., I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, Beautiful Day, Miracle Drug, Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own, Love and Peace or Else, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bullet the Blue Sky, Miss Sarajevo, Pride, Where the Streets Have No Name, One
Encore(s): Walk On (acoustic), Fast Cars, People Get Ready, With or Without You, All Because of You, 40
Comments: During the encore, Bono announces that they want to play ‘People Get Ready’, but says they need an extra guitar player. The crowd erupts when Bruce Springsteen strolls on stage to reprise a collaboration that first happened in September, 1987, at Philly’s now-demolished JFK Stadium. Bono calls Bruce’s wife, Patti Scialfa, on stage to help with vocals. They play an extended version of the song with mostly made-up lyrics, eventually leaving only Bruce (playing Bono’s Irish Falcon guitar) and Larry on stage to close out the first encore. The planned setlist has the show ending with Original of the Species and Bad, but the band plays All Because of You and 40 instead.
Night two in Philadelphia, and the energy level of the band was much higher than that of night one. However, I was still quite disappointed that, for the second night in a row, the only song played from Achtung Baby was “One.” I was also disappointed that after seeing four shows on this tour, I’d not gotten an “Original Of The Species” or “Bad.” You can imagine my reaction when I read the comments section of the setlist this morning! DAMMIT!!!!!
“Miss Sarajevo” was great both nights, but Bono really took it up another notch on Monday. Absolutely incredible. “People Get Ready” with Bruce Springsteen was the obvious highlight of the entire two night run, and the crowd reaction was priceless.
