I won by 246 runs. 339 - 93. I'm dissappointed in my respectable batter who only scored 1 run on 3 balls before getting out though.
Finished second in my series (III.7 Jamaica) with 44 points and I'll be promoting.

we might end up in the same league.
339 is a great total, wouldn't worry about the one batsment who didn't perform well. every player has a bad game every once in a while

What are his consistency, concentration, and stamina ratings? I've found that this has just as much effect on a player's performance as their other skills.
Seriously, just check out my match (670). Short Review: Both teams played bated the full 50 overs, and we were within three runs of each other. Luckily, I came out on top. That would have been nerve-racking to watch live.
Unfortunately, the team I needed to lose ended up winning by 10 wickets, and I didn't get close to his run rate, so I'm going to be in III.7 another year, but as the best returning squad (although I'll get severe competition from the guy I beat today).
I'm looking back on a few games that I should have won. What a difference it would have made:(

woeful consistancy, respectable stamina, strong form. I thought concentration only matters for bowlers but his is competant. I got a bit unlucky in that my best batters all have good concentration but bad consistancy while my bowlers have good consistancy but low concentration.

It was a mistake to allow you to do that in season one friendlies, now as we move into season two I would imagine they have corrected the bug.

It's a friendly, you never should have been able to set it in the first place. HT had a similar issue for a number of seasons.

Other way around - batsmen need concentration, bowlers need consistency.

As anticipated, Norse AC held on for the win, bowling Kristianhaugen all out for 203 to win by 53 runs. As anticipated, the second-place team won easily. The result is that we still finish in third and had no real effect on the outcome of the series from our POV, other than prize money (it will also affect where the teams go, I'm sure).
The reporter's MOTM was Devon Liburd, who took four wickets bowling and put up 12 runs on 17 balls (not out) batting. I'll give him the bowling end, as the first of his wickets was a very big one, nipping the only opposing batsman to get any production going (but Jamie Newsome must also be mentioned with a 10-1-23-2 line). The honors need to be shared with Sulieman Seargeant, though, as Seargeant put up 105 runs for his first century to pace the offense.
The Valhallans close out the season on a seven-match win streak, with their previous loss to Kristianhaugen. Basically, we've beaten everyone in the series on our second time through. :)

really, thats odd. Every friendly i've played I would set it at Take it easy. I can show you the scorecards that say Take it Easy on them, but you wouldn't be able to see it unless you logged in as me!

Right you are. I knew that but I got confused because the player I was talking about earlier is the one player on my team with the proper secondary skill.

I won by about 50 runs to win the league  I'm 15th in the promotion table so it looks like i'm double promoting to II - i'm gonna get destroyed!

I secured fifth in my first (half) season. Looking forward to starting the season anew and seeing what I can do.
I really need another spin bowler as I only have one on my squad and he's not good enough to start usually. All the rest are seamers.
My batters are average overall. Got 3 decent WKs.
Like baseball, has anyone noticed any difference with lefty bowlers(pitchers) going up against righty batters?
I just hope to make it in the top four next season, participate in the cup (which I missed due to my late start), and maybe be close to earning a promotion.... we'll see.

i lost out on a good allrounder because I was asleep!!
i think there should be a way to set a limit on how much you want to spend (like ebay) so when you bid on a player and someone bids when you are asleep (due to time zones) you are not screwed out of a player. The player was from Australia and the guy who got him was from Australia. The bidding ended at 2:05 Battrick time (think its Greenwich mean time, not sure though) so I lost out because I was not sitting in front of my computer.

When should prize money be doled out? I might not spend it on anything, and build up my cash reserves.

Or, I just might. Possibly, a spin bowler.
In the same vein as the hattrick board, I wonder what everyones goals and aspirations for this season are. Mine:
Last Season: We started out strong, and for the first six games, we only had one loss (to the series leader). It appeared that a divide was growing between the top two of SL III.7 and everyone else, and I was confident that the leader was the only thing holding me back from winning the series. However, in the 7th round, we lost to a team which didn't come on until a few weeks into the season, and completely snuck up on us. This loss was compounded by another defeat the next week to a team we had no business losing to. Looking back, this hiccup was probably the reason I'm not talking about promotion now. However, our only loss from then on was to the eventual series champions (not the same team I mention above, who finished second). It all culminated in a dramatic 295-292 win on the final day. A match in which both squads batted the full 50 overs. So the season ended with the series evenly divided. The top four were only separated by eight points, with the fifth place team being another eight points off the pace.
The cup was largely irrelevant, as we bowed out in the opening round to the eventual cup champions. A team who is widely considered, by those on the sledging boards as the top team in Sri Lanka. Hardly a disgraceful performance.
Goals for Season 2: There is only one. Win the series. Barring an excellent cup run, our season will be considered a failure if we do not promote. Given the knowledge that there will be no strong team coming down, it is clear that Scouse Cricket and Barmy Army SL, two teams who went down to the wire in the final game of Season 1, will clean up on all the other competition, and will focus entirely on their two fixtures. If either one of these teams slips up against an inferior squad, it wouldn't be a stretch to say their promotion chances are dashed.
Key Performers: Mahinda Manjula, a soon to be 18 year old batsman, is clearly the player the hopes of Scouse Cricket will be riding on. Having trained up to competent in his first season, he will be the man looked to bring in the runs for the upcoming season. 21 yo Natsha Chintaka, and 23 yo Upal Kelaart will look to provide support for the offense. 27 yo Sigauna Jayakodi, despite being the squad's most consistent performer last season, which was capped off with a stellar 127-run performance on the final day of the season, will probably ride off into the sunset; but being highly regarded by the Scouse Cricket faithful as one of the club's pioneers.
The bowling situation is a little shakier, for three reasons:
a) The club's best bowler will be 27 yo, and clearly only has a little left in the tank.
b) The club's youngest bowler, Tazzful Siriwande, will be 21 yo this upcoming season, and nearing the end of his trainable period.
c) All five starting bowlers this past year were seam bowlers. The club only has one spinner on the books, an 18 yo whose future looks bleak.
The club has been trying to improve upon this obvious weak point through its proficient youth academy, but has yet to strike it rich. As previously stated, a main target this offseason is a young, trainable, bowler (preferably spin).
Currently, two of these bowlers have passable batting skills, and will be looked to provide a consistent contribution in the six and seven spots next year.
The wicket keeper situation is solid. Although neither of these players can hit a ball to save their life, they are both pretty young (19 and 22), and comparable in skill. They look to split time at the start of the season, with the club hoping it can determine who to name for the starting WK early in the season.
The 744 members of the club are optimistic, with promotion, a balanced budget, and a bright future in sight. It should be a great season for the club.
