Ask anything you have trouble understanding. The thread regulars (kopite, me, Bluto, mtkilla, a few others) should be able to help you out.

When I started out, I got two of each coach, and stuck trainable people (who were already high in the applicable category) into each slot. Once you get deeper in, you can start specializing. Currently, I have a higher amount of bowling coaches, since bowling is my main weakness.

They actually don't train? Or is it just very slow and not worth it?
i think its really slow and not worth it. like a whole season or so to pop for a 23 year old with one coach. i think. i've read stuff about it how it takes longer to train 17 year olds, a little shorter for 18 year old, a little shorter for 19 year olds, and then longer. kinda like a bell curve. however, the place i read it is escaping me right now.

ok i think i made that up, but i do remember reading on the sledging boards not to train past 22

here's a site with some info:

So what's a good beginner training style to get into?

it depends on what you have just like in hattrick... who do you have that's 17-19 and has atleast feeble(only if 17 imo) or mediocre in a primary skill...

Primary skills are: Batting, Bowling, Wicketkeeping.

I've not started to do it yet because I've got to get 2-3 bowlers trained up, but once I do have a balanced team I will reduce my trainees to just 2 or 3 at a time.

Right now I've got 6 trainees and my full compliment of 10 coaches but I've got a 20yo batsman who will pop to Proficient by the end of the season and a 19 yo feeble bowler who I'm going to take to mediocre in a couple weeks and then stop training so I can use all my training slots on these guys.

Shane Coutts - 17 yo, BT Rating=2,562
RH Batsman, LF Bowler, competent form, Healthy
A cautious player with respectable leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: woeful Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: worthless Concentration: woeful
Bowling: competent Consistency: feeble
Fielding: feeble

Shane Goldbourne - 18 yo, BT Rating=5,569
RH Batsman, RF Bowler, superb form, Healthy
A steady player with feeble leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: woeful Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: mediocre Concentration: respectable
Bowling: abysmal Consistency: abysmal
Fielding: abysmal

Geoff Jackson - 20 yo, BT Rating=6,659
RH Batsman, RM Bowler, respectable form, Healthy
A destructive player with proficient leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: mediocre Concentration: proficient
Bowling: abysmal Consistency: abysmal
Fielding: competent

Desmond Love - 20 yo, BT Rating=4,594
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, mediocre form, Healthy
An attacking player with mediocre leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: woeful Wicket Keeping: feeble
Batting: feeble Concentration: abysmal
Bowling: respectable Consistency: feeble
Fielding: feeble

This leads me to my next most important bit.... FUND YOUR ACADEMY... all of these guys are youth pulls... all from the last 7weeks. I've been funding it the maximum amount since the beginning and its already at STRONG... as a beginner, these players are already capable of fitting into my team and as my team becomes more rounded (right now I'm heavy at the batting end) I'll be able to train up just 2-4 UBER trainees who will become gods among men.

This guy:

Shane Coutts - 17 yo, BT Rating=2,562
RH Batsman, LF Bowler, competent form, Healthy
A cautious player with respectable leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina: woeful Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: worthless Concentration: woeful
Bowling: competent Consistency: feeble
Fielding: feeble

If you train him in bowling and fielding his consistency will go up twice as fast as it would without training fieldlng.

If you have combo batsman, w/k'ers, training both batting and w/k on the same player increases concentration also.

Worth bearing in mind.

I had a 17 yp last season who is a decent w/k, decent concentration and low batting. I have his concentration upto strong now that he is 18 and soon he will pop to medicore batting and strong w/k.

I'm pretty sure it's the latter.

My youth pull is up to about 75k, with two days left. This will be very nice, as it will help me get some breathing room in my bank account.

Yeah - I had a 26 yo pop to "Strong" Batting in the first week of the sim (had no young trainees at the time).

my older guys trained well when i first got my team. I wonder if they train better because you are just starting. Maybe I should try to get some of my better batsmen up to strong even though they are older???

I think they may have just been close to popping to the next level -- they have not changed the formula.

You have had say a mediocre batsman who was in fact a high mediocre when you got him and he popped in a week or two. But next pop will take an age.

I got a real person, but he recently took over his team -- so I shouldn't have a problem with him.

I got a new player aswell. I shouldn't really have any trouble from them, just got to decide if it's worth risking a TIE.

Good day. Sold my guy for about 235k, and drew a bot in the cup. This means I can definitely GFI my league match, and the TIE the cup.

Awesome.
