A bit of cross-posting so that the newest Rapids supporters' grou can establish a presence in this subforum!
OK, good meeting. Had a solid turnout and the FO was able to confuse us a little more as well ;) . Here is a general outline of what was accomplished:
Tailgating: Will stay in Lot C by the grassy knoll (the dirt hill). The FO will see what they can do about getting the Port-O-Potties unlocked so we don’t have to pee behind or in the dumpsters anymore :D . We did discuss moving to the grills in front of the Stadia but many had no idea they were there and all who were present agreed that the hill is the best and most recognizable option.
Name: This was a difficult task for us. As the FO would give us no clues as to a possible color/name change we had to go with something that was tied into the State or City. It was decided that “Centennial Firm” would be the new name of the Colorado Rapids Support Group.
Goals: The debate about whether this should be a “Umbrella Name” was not clearly decided. It is important to note that you don’t not have to sit in Sec 127 nor Class VI to take part with the “Centennial Firm”. Having the desire to enjoy the Rapids game on another level other then “Saturday entertainment” is the aim of the Centennial Firm. To be a part of something like this enhances the experience for all involved. If you are interested, simply send an email to iLLBeAtsFC@yahoo.com with your name, ph#, email addy and I will put you on the mail list for updates as they come along.
I think it bears mentioning that the Centennial Firm is meant to be an inclusive group, NOT an exclusive group. Here's a little Q&A based on some things we talked about yesterday. If anybody thinks I got it wrong, please chime in.
Q: Do you have to sit in 127 or 128 to join?
A: Emphatically NO! (This is a social group, not a seating plan.)
Q: Do you have to have season tickets to be a member of the Centennial Firm?
A: No. (This is for all fans committed to supporting the team, even if it's only at a few games a year.)
Q: If I'm a member of Class VI, would joining the Centennial Firm create a conflict of interest?
A: No!! (Class VI & Centennial Firm are very like-minded when it comes to love of the game.)
Q: Why should I affiliate myself with the Centennial Firm?
A: Because you prefer to enjoy your pre-game & post-game time with other like-minded fans---and maybe even your during-game time, but you can sit (or stand) anywhere you want to when you get inside the stadium. Because you think a supporters' group is a good way to show the team and the front office that we totally appreciate what they do!!
Q: How do I sign up?
A: E-mail Brown or mosey on by our tailgate on the 22nd and say, "Hey, this sounds like a good idea to me."
