A bit of cross-posting so that the newest Rapids supporters' grou can establish a presence in this subforum!

OK, good meeting. Had a solid turnout and the FO was able to confuse us a little more as well ;) . Here is a general outline of what was accomplished:
Tailgating: Will stay in Lot C by the grassy knoll (the dirt hill). The FO will see what they can do about getting the Port-O-Potties unlocked so we don’t have to pee behind or in the dumpsters anymore :D . We did discuss moving to the grills in front of the Stadia but many had no idea they were there and all who were present agreed that the hill is the best and most recognizable option.

Name: This was a difficult task for us. As the FO would give us no clues as to a possible color/name change we had to go with something that was tied into the State or City. It was decided that “Centennial Firm” would be the new name of the Colorado Rapids Support Group.

Goals: The debate about whether this should be a “Umbrella Name” was not clearly decided. It is important to note that you don’t not have to sit in Sec 127 nor Class VI to take part with the “Centennial Firm”. Having the desire to enjoy the Rapids game on another level other then “Saturday entertainment” is the aim of the Centennial Firm. To be a part of something like this enhances the experience for all involved. If you are interested, simply send an email to iLLBeAtsFC@yahoo.com with your name, ph#, email addy and I will put you on the mail list for updates as they come along.

I think it bears mentioning that the Centennial Firm is meant to be an inclusive group, NOT an exclusive group. Here's a little Q&A based on some things we talked about yesterday. If anybody thinks I got it wrong, please chime in.

Q: Do you have to sit in 127 or 128 to join?
A: Emphatically NO! (This is a social group, not a seating plan.)

Q: Do you have to have season tickets to be a member of the Centennial Firm?
A: No. (This is for all fans committed to supporting the team, even if it's only at a few games a year.)

Q: If I'm a member of Class VI, would joining the Centennial Firm create a conflict of interest?
A: No!! (Class VI & Centennial Firm are very like-minded when it comes to love of the game.)

Q: Why should I affiliate myself with the Centennial Firm?
A: Because you prefer to enjoy your pre-game & post-game time with other like-minded fans---and maybe even your during-game time, but you can sit (or stand) anywhere you want to when you get inside the stadium. Because you think a supporters' group is a good way to show the team and the front office that we totally appreciate what they do!!

Q: How do I sign up?
A: E-mail Brown or mosey on by our tailgate on the 22nd and say, "Hey, this sounds like a good idea to me."

I think we'll have 2 more (Will and Slim) but I'll let them speak for themselves.

To see what other folks are doing in Chicago you might want to check out the following which is quoted from the Chicago Fire site (Check out the Mike Ditka Crew site (my favorite):

Supporter Groups

You've seen them at the games -- singing, drumming and waving flags -- our most die-hard fans and supporters. This section is dedicated to these special Fire Supporter Groups:

Section 8 Chicago Independent Supporters' Association
Organized fan support is concentrated around Section 8, which consists of several Fire fan clubs. Their passion is expressed by non-stop chanting, singing, drum beating, flag waving, and various colorful displays. Check out merchandise, photos and news on the new and improved Section 8 website, www.section8chicago.com!

Vice Chairman: Jamie Sundquist

Fire Ultras '98
Fire Ultras '98 www.fireultras.com is an informal organization of Polish Fire Fans. Although fairly small in number, they are the driving core force of the organized support, providing flags on poles, the majority of banners, bass drums, virtually all of the tifo (streamers, plastic rolls, balloons, mosaics, etc.), and most importantly, their leadership and strong voices.

Barn Burners 1871
Barn Burners 1871 is a large group of passionate soccer fans in the European mold. They sing songs, play drums, wave flags and are definitely not for the weak of heart! The club started organizing in April 1997. Back before the team was named "Fire." Before a single player had been drafted. In fact, even before there was a single Fire official in Chicago! These are the kind of fans we love! To Join the Barn Burners, visit their website at www.barnburners.com.

I'm in...for what I can do. Scheduling, kids, and general life tend to get in the way of most "extra curricular" activites like...well....leaving the house without driving to Soccer, Karate and Dance.

To see what other folks are doing in Chicago....

Damn you and your Chicago Victor!!!! The only soccer team with a "C" that should concern you is Colorado, not Chit-cago or...you know who, I dare not mention that name in this Forum  !

Just for purpose of stealing the best of their ideas! Trust me I won't be defecting back to the windy city. I don't even care that the sox (white) are in the world series! If the Cubs ever make it it'll be another story.

If you have an idea for a logo/flag/banner/badge for the Centennial Firm, please bring a sketch/printout/prototype to the tailgate so everybody can have a look-see and maybe we can even vote (yeah, like the business part of the last tailgate went so well ) and decide on something... Oh, or you can e-mail your design to IllBeats Hooligan and he can get it printed up all nice 'n' purdy.

Can we get something with Elijah Wood on it?

Viggo Mortensen is more my type! :)

I don't understand the Elijah connection, but bring or e-mail a prototype and we can vote on it. Oh, wait---now I think I get the Elijah connection. There's a movie he's in now called something-something Firm. And that's the same meaning of "firm" that we mean by the group's name. And "Centennial" because it's generic Colorado yet interesting. We are the Centennial State because we gained our statehood in 1876.

That's brilliant! Aragorn would make a much better soccer hooligan than Frodo. Let's put him on the stamp!

I like the name (Centennial Firm).

Wouldn't Borormir be the best choice? Stubborn, proud, hard-headed, you know, like most soccer supporters. Plus Sean Bean is British.
