Sorry but I have to have a Top :D 3
1) Heartbreaker - 7 minutes and 24 seconds of pure god like music.
2) Dazed and Confused - 25 minutes and 25 seconds of Zep being strange and brilliant
3) Whole Lotta Love - 23 minutes and 7 seconds of classic Zep intermixed with some classic rock songs.
All live from 'How the West Was Won'

Maybe we should divide this into two categories of recordings: Live and In the Studio.

Completely depends on my mood. Like the Beatles, Zeppelin don't really have that one defining song. (And the overrated Stairway to Heaven isn't it.)

Not a bad call. I like the old songs. I'd go with 'Dazed and Confused' first and 'Heartbreaker' second. I'm down with the studio versions too. The energy in Heartbreaker is just awesome, just turn up the volume and let it take you.
I don't think I would pick Whole Lotta Love, though. It's a great song, but I think JP gets too cute with the violin-like sounds he gets from his guitar. It is ok at first, but for my taste he takes it too far. I would prefer if he'd just take the guitar and jammed as only he can.

Over the Hills and Far Away on that CD is probably one of the best for just him jamming.
I like Whole Lotta Love because of the genius on display on it.

FWIW, a 'lesser known' ;) LZ song but surely a worthwhile mention is "Hey Hey What Can I Do"
It's not The Immigrant Song nor Kashmir but it has amazing bass.
"I got a woman, she won't be true"
"Looking for my street corner girl"

I've been listening to In through the out door a lot lately -
turn up the volume and jam Carlouselambra for 10 minutes.

Yes, there are definitely better Led Zep songs. But it still rocks. The genius of Stairway to Heaven is that it rocks yet is a chick-friendly song. Going back to my high school days, girls would trip out over songs like Whole Lotta Love or Black Dog, they would hate them. But they loved Stairway to Heaven. So, we could listen to it on a date, take the transistor radio/cassette player to the park, and make out, and still get the great jams. It was sort of the equivalent of a chick flick with action.
A couple of other favorites:
The Battle of Evermore is awesome, with its Peruvian style, and that infectious Inca beat proving a perfect match for Plant's trippy voice. And all the supernatural implications and symbols are cool.
And of course, the first Zep song I heard, Good Times/Bad times. I was probably 12/13 years old and somebody at one of our birthday parties put on a Led Zeppelin album and from the very first note of the first song, everybody went wild! This is new, this is different, this is awesome!
I've been a fan ever since. I even went crazy over RP's solo album. But I'd say the first four, and probably a couple more, up to Physical Graffiti, are above the rest.
