Did you know that if you take down the last man on a goal scoring opportunity, the sending off of the defender is optional? I didn't, thankfully Lindsay Dean did.

He is of course completely wrong.

I'm so glad GolTV decided to use their in-house announcers in Miami who don't know the laws of the game instead of the announcers in Madrid actually at the stadium. Well done guys.

You are wrong Matt...

This is what fifa says:

A player is sent off and shown the red card if he commits any of the following seven offences:
1. is guilty of serious foul play
2. is guilty of violent conduct
3. spits at an opponent or any other person
4. denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
5. denies an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick 6. uses offensive or insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
7. receives a second caution in the same match

No mentioning of last man....

No I'm not. If a guy is in on goal and the last man takes him down, that's certainly falls under #5. In any event, it certainly met that definition as well so my point still applies.

My main complaint with Gol TV's coverage when they decide to use the in house annoucners is that the in stadium audio becomes non-existant. The game sounds like it's being played in a vacuum. I don't mind Hudson so much, but Dean isn't great at play-by-play.

Lindsay Dean is a douchebag.

There I said it.

On a different track, as much I find Hudson entertaining, he really bothered me with his unwillingness to see that Ronaldo was really hurt-at some point he needed to shut up and take in the video with at least a modicum of caution. It was very clear that it was more than, "just a knock."

And as it turns out, Lindsey was right in that the injury was serious.

Hudson is a little bit annoying to tell you the truth. When Ronaldo was hurting, he couldn't stop his comment about Ronaldo wanting to get in the injury list. Another thing that pissed me off was when he said that Garcia did a great job playing for the Argentine national team, when Garcia plays for the Uruguayan national team. I'm not even Uruguayan and I knew he didn't play for Argentine.

They need the other announcer (I forgot his name, but he is not the inside announcer, but his obviously english and he is better). He knows how to narrate the game and he has more knowledge about narrating. I don't mind the other guy, but Hudson is really unbearable to listen to.

GOLTV did it again - now i cant wait for another channel to pick up la Liga games with stadium announcers, i will be the first to turn off GolTV. I stopped watching the game after the first minute.

Madrid Derby and they use those two morons - unbelieveable.

Right, it was uncomfortable to listen to that bit. However, his comment from a few minutes earlier--when Ronaldo had turned and said something to the bench--that Ronaldo had told Luxemburgo to "Run my bath" was pretty funny. On the whole, though, he's a little too much in love with the sound of his own voice.

Kind of like Agoos against Chivas? He certainly was the last defender before the keeper who took down a forward heading on goal. Oh, wait, he wasn't sent off, either.

Thx,

Jay!
