I was just reading about that and Cynthia McKinney's loss as well. Interesting stuff.

Nah. Kind of Blue aside, most of Miles' best work as far as I'm concerned breaks down along the lines of his two greatest ensembles: his early/mid 50's group (Philly Joe Jones, Red Garland, Paul Chambers, Trane, Cannonball Adderley) and his mid/late 60's quintet (Tony Williams, Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter). You need at least one album from both eras.
Miles is something of a unique figure in jazz, though, because his true strength was never really as a performer but rather as a composer and arranger.

Good point C-Towner: While a big fan of Miles, after getting introduced to Lee Morgan, Clifford Brown, Kenny Dorham, Freddie Hubbard, all of those cats have it over Miles as far as technical skillz, and definitely in the solo dept.

Hello, Traci Bingham.
House, I have another model request of you/for you -- got any pics of Veronica Webb? I think she and Spike Lee were an item up in New York back in his single days, yes?
Vampeta -- spot on with your analysis about the greatness of Lee Morgan and Clifford Brown. I am a big Lee Morgan fan, both of his style of playing and composing music. Clifford Brown died very young (25 I think) and would've been held in the same esteem as Miles had he lived longer and made more music.

House, after saying thanks for the V. Webb pics, I'm going to ask for some that might be hard to find because I'm not sure how well-known this actress is -- she's not a really big name but was just in a TV miniseries so she's fresh on my mind.
N'Bushe (sp?) Wright -- I think she was in "Dead Presidents" with Larenz Tate. If you can't find pics of her on the net, no biggie -- I'm sure I'll come up with an alternate request for you.
Also, House, since you're a learned man, I should ask you about literature since I haven't before. Do you read any black authors or any books by authors of any race on "black-oriented" themes?
I don't read as much as I used to, but I used to check out Ishmael Reed in the fiction genre, I used to read a lot of history (biographies of DuBois, King) and I have started but haven't finished a book about the King assassination by the late James Earl Ray's last attorney.
Since you're in law, I'm sure you've heard of Derrick Bell, Lani Guinier, Randall Kennedy? I have books by Guinier and Bell, but man, you have to be a lawyer or at least heavy into legal terminology to get into their writing (at least Guinier's) because so much of it is is drawn from court cases, case law, precdent, legal theory, etc. -- interesting but a bit heavy at times for a layperson like myself.

N'Bushe Wright was in both Dead Presidents and Blade.

I'll be honest. Reading is not one of my great passions. I have the attention span of a fly on crack and have a hard time sitting still to read a book. I can only read if I'm on a plane or something. Quite frankly, after law school I didn't want to read a book because I figured I'd done all the reading I ever wanted to do. But get me in a book store and I can stay there for hours going from book to book. My wife thinks that is the strangest thing in the world. I once read an entire book in about 4 different visits to a book store on Dupont Circle a few years ago.
Lani Guinier I am familiar with and I did read some excerpts from her book. I'm not as familiar with Bell though I know his name.
I read Nathaniel McCall's first book and I read the autobiography of Dr. Bernard Watson "From Colored to Negro to Black" which was very interesting.

What's a NAF thread?
BTW, did anyone see that Maury Povich episode which had this dirty great tattooed biker who was married to this quite large black women?
It was really weird, but it happens. The guy looked like a typical redneck biker, but he was pretty cool.

It's a periodic thread from before the Big Soccer crash where two guys post pictures of the favorite women. They only show white girls, ighte skinned spanish girls and an occasional picture of Tyra.

I'm really weird with fancying women.
I think it's because I'm mixed.
I go through cycles. For a few weeks I prefere white girls,
for a few weeks I prefere black girls, and other weeks mixed girls,
and other weeks Asians, South Americans etc.
Does anyone else go through this? I suspect it's because
I'm mixed I have no psychological loyalty to one particular race?
I think all people are really like this, but mostly stick to their own race.

Doesn't sound wird to me, my cousin is like that.
I've been to Hong Kong and Bangkok.
Hung out in Latin clubs getting my salsa & merengue on.
Attended predominately white universities and been around all kinds of people.
I can honestly say:
I like all women.
But I LOVE Black women.

yeah well I prefer hot Polish girls, so what you gonna do about that?
But I like all women too. I think there are some nice looking Hatian and Jamaican women down by your area, myHouse. But I think it's natural for people to be more attracted to thier own race. It's not right or wrong in my opinion and it's not an absolute science, it just seems to be the case most of the time.
Personally I want to have an orgy with a girl from every race and background and then decide.
