Who do you think it's the best Ecuadorian club team of all time? There's the Barcelona of 1990, the Barcelona of 1998, the comtemporary LDU. Any other team you can think of, not necessarily the all-time best but a good one? I remember the Filanbanco of the mid 80s, it had Hamilton Cuvi, Capurro, Macias, in an era when the battle for the best was between Cuvi, Holguer Quinonez, Aviles, a young Aguinaga, and an older Villafuerte.

Well, the only ones that ahve done anything worth while were Barcelona 1990 and 1998.
But Barcelona from 1971and 1972 were quite good also.
The Emelec from 1995 had a fantastic defense, but lack any good strikers.
But out of all, I'd think Barcelona 1990.

Of course, that was the Barcelona of Alberto Spencer, Nelsinho, Leon, and Munoz!

El Chanfle Munoz!
I trained under him in Filambanco like 12 yrs ago! He was old but still had that comba in his free kicks! Man I wish I could have seen him in his prime time!
BTW is Filambanco still around?

No, Filanbanco was sold in the early 90's and became Valdez, I think it has completely dissapeared now.

I haven't followed Ecuador football from that long ago, but the 1998 team led by Jose Cevallos seemed to have been a great team. Wasn't Tin and Delacruz on that team that also made it to Copa Libertadores finals??

I'm a Nacional fan all the way, all the players are Ecuas and they have been one of the best teams in Ecuador, more players in the Ecuadorian team on the way to the World Cup in Germany are from <<< EL NACIONAL >>> .But that is my opinion.

The Nacional of 76-78 was pretty good too, and so was the Nacional of 82-84.

The Emelec from 1995
was the best ecuadorian team of all times
with Luis Capurro, Kleber Fajardo, Tanque Hurtado
they lost in semifinals for the Libertadores Cup
against the best "Gremio de Portoalegre" of all times,
which obviously later became the Libertadores Cup Champion.

Thanks to soccer players like "EDU" Emelec is also known
as "blue ballet" because of people who played so elegant with the ball
and synchronized to achieve victories and championships. ;)
