I just thought it funny how we have so many injuries pile upon us... If we progress to the 2nd round of the Champions League that will be an accomplishment.
Defence: Ashley Cole, Sol Campbell
Midfield: Aleksandar Hleb
Forward: Thierry Henry
That's 4 of our main starters.
it looks like this:
Lehmann, Clichy, Toure, Cygan, Lauren, Ljungberg, Gilberto, Fabregas, Pires, Reyes, Bergkamp
Subs: Flamini, Almunia, Quincy, Senderos, Van Persie
Personally I think Van Persie merits a nod of DB10 but that's just me.

Gilberto will be jet lagged

I think Senderos will get the nod over Cygan now that he's healthy, and has apparently been playing well for the Swiss.

I think this illustrates, however, that for all the smug talk of Arsenal supporters who claim we're better than Man U and Chelsea because we dont go and buy players left, right, and center, we're in a real jam right now because the depth simply isnt there.
I'm just really glad Sol's injury isnt that serious. You have to wonder, however, how durable Sol is going to be the rest of his career. It seems he cant go a few weeks without a new injury.

This just goes to show Wenger how he dropped the ball over the summer. He knew that there was a real possibility that many of our first team starters could go down. Now no one was expecting this, but the lack of depth is showing through. Cole and Hleb will be out for two months. At least Sol and TiTi will be back soon. Im not so worried about West Brom on the weekend but a good result in Prague will be hard to come by, even for our number 1 squad. This might show him just what he needs to do for January.

Well, if they were missing players of the ilk of henry, Hleb, Gilberto, Cole, and Campbell (who are all internationals) I would think that any team (with the exception of Chelsea who are a special case) would be v.happy to have an 11 like
Lehmann
Lauren,Senderos,Toure,Clichy
Ljungberg,Fabregas,Flamini,Pires
RvP,Reyes
Of whom at least 6 could be going to the World Cup...
Not too shakey??

It's certainly disappointing to have so many players down as the heart of the season approaches. Gotta believe that our youngsters can come in and perform and that our vets can bring some true leadership to the pitch.

Info on Hleb, and it appears RvP is out, as well...

What the hell is wrong with RvP? Did he hurt himself doing the chicken dance?

Those injuries are the last thing you needed - at least El Rey has stepped on up and the team shown above looks pretty good to me.

Did anyone else notice RVP grabbing Almunia's crotch in last years seasons review? It's near the beginning when they're introducing the 'new faces at arsenal'. I can't believe the editors missed it.

Actually, he was probably seeing if Almunia had missed any other balls last year.

And could we please not start the "Wenger dropped the ball!" talk until we actually see how the squad does over the next week or two? It's gotten to the point where I'm waiting until Cygan gets hurt just to see if someone claims Wenger blew it by not finding a suitable backup for him.
