If money is no object, then iPod is it. But if you can't justify spending $300- $500, then my opinions are of no use to you.

Gotta agree with Skip. My little brother saved up his lunch money to get the iPod. I played with the thing, it's bigger then most mp3 players from what I've seen, but it's easy to use and holds an insane amount of songs.

Gotta go with the two above, iPod is the way to go.

I've got a 10gig iPod and it holds plenty.

For those who didn't know, you can get them for winblows computers as well as Macs.

I checked the list on Yahoo of most popular mp3 players and they said iPod too. Now I have to go think about this for a while.

VERY true, and if the rumors are true it will only get better.

there are a couple cheaper ways you can go, one of which is nomad jukebox and the nomad ipod ripoff

Have any of you iPod owners had any problems? I got my wife an iPod 10gig last year and she's had all kinds of problems with it -- battery drain, freezes, etc.

I haven't had one problem with mine. It's worked flawlessly since I bought it.

Did you return it to Apple?

I have a 5gb iPod and love it. I run with it and use it as a backup drive as well.

Labdarugo, make sure you have the latest firmware for your iPod. The latest firmware in the US is 1.2.1.

I live in a two Pod house. Neither one of the iPods have ever had a problem in about a year of ownership. We love our iPods!

I'm thinking about getting an MP3 player too but I want one with a tuner as well. I don't see any MP3 players with tuners yet. Do they make them like this?

The new Rio Riots might be a good middle range between Nomad price and iPod reliability, and it comes with an AM/FM tuner.

Thanks caddisfly. Downloaded the firmware a couple of days ago and that seems to have solved the battery problem. It's also been running fine. The freeze problems mostly happened when my wife took it running. That'll be the next test. Fingers crossed.
