RIGHT!!! This working-class vs. wealthy rilvary doesn't hold true as much since downwards class mobility has changed the dichotomy of this rivalry. And by this I mean WE ALL GOT POOR. Please, how many "U" fans are born into wealth nowadays?

Thats what the "Classico del Sur" is for. Pretty much any team Cienciano plays thats around there, like Melgar.

Is it true Universitario tends to draw fans from the middle and upper class while Alianza is traditionally the working-class team? Equipo del pueblo.
It used to be that way in the 1930s and 40s but not anymore. No team can be the most popular without having the support of the lower classes.

Universitario became the most popular team in Peru by gaining the support of the working-class migrants that came from the countryside into Lima during the 40s and 50s.

Even now, if you go to the real rough barrios in Lima you'll see more U than Alianza fans.

the biggest game around is the U vs cristal matchup then comes alianza cristal

and then

boys- and the big 3

callao had a big one when atletico chalaco was still around

Yep you are right, for the past 20 years it has to be U-Cristal the 2nd biggest game/rivalry ... you know why right? Hint: Look at your avatar ... Somos Cremas
Cristal's job was to buy everything La U had ... and then from there it sparkled a rivalry at games and for titles.

Before it had to be el "clasico moderno" U-Muni. Even now they call the U-Cristal the "clasico moderno".
